I know so many people love this place, but I'm still on the fence about it. It is very much a Greencastle staple, and they do support a good many local events.
As many people complain about - the LINE.. if you have multiple entrance/exits and two places to place your order - then you should have a rope divider of some sorts for the people who come in the ice cream side order on that side of the counter, and those who come in from the game room side order at that register. It can be very confusing and make you feel like you're cutting in front of those who may also be in line, but if they aren't moving forward, or don't hear you ask if they are in line.. what are you supposed to do.
The restroom can use an updating and new lighting, as it was very dim the time I checked it out. The game room is loud, after all it is a game room for kids. Not much you can do about that other than putting up some walls. The gift shop is an okay size, I do feel some of the stuff is over priced but that fits in with the price of the food.
To me, and like some others, I feel like the food is more like a carnival or concession stand food that you'd get at a sporting event locally. If you say fries you're getting shoe string fries, if you want the ones in the heat lamp at the counter, you need to say wedges, because that's what they are, and you only get 4 of them. Everything is pretty bland, and I don't know if that's to appeal to the kids or the old folks that tend to frequent this place.
As for the ice cream, this is my usual only purpose for going. Some times you over pay for what you get, some of the flavors are VERY freezer burnt tasting and that's unfortunate. Some times when they write down what it is you want in your sundae, you don't get those things while you watch them make it. I'm usually not one for making a fuss about things.
I don't come here often enough to really care, but if you don't mind the some times loud sounds coming from the game room. Or the strange " Are you in line, no, okay how about you guys...Oh sorry I didn't know you were in line" dance, and enjoy the blandness.. this is the right...
Read moreMikie's is up the street from where we practice baseball and softball several nights a week. We've stopped in a couple of times and it's usually been really busy. The 1st time I went I had a cheesesteak and order of breaded mushrooms. The cheesesteak wasn't bad, but the mushrooms were really good, even for the small portion. My son had a burger, fries and onion rings. He's a little guy and his eyes were bigger than his belly, so he only got through about half. He said his favorite was the onion rings. I stopped in another time with my daughter and she had the shrimp basket that she liked and I had the brisket sandwich with potato wedges. I definitely liked that more, but I had them put the cheese on the side because I don't think cheese belongs on brisket. It was good for the wedges though! I do recommend Mikie's just don't be in a hurry, it's...
Read moreThe burger and fries where nothing special, but it wasn't bad. It was actually appropriate at 7 bucks. The pickles on it were pretty tasty. It doesn't taste sour like the ones at McDonald's or Burger King. It was a little sweet. I got sugarless (but still sweet), softserve pistachio-flavored ice cream and it was good. Even the portion was pretty great. They gave me a cone with ice cream the size of a softball and a half.
I gotta say, the staff was pretty friendly. They seemed pretty young but they were patient with me as a first time customer.
Although the gaming and dining area seemed closed off as of December 2020. If I lived here, I would have gone back regardless. There pullpork sandwich kinda hit the spot.
They also have a store if you like cute Knick knacks. The little cute animal glass...
