MAKE SURE YOU NEVER BUY TAKEOUT ORDERS HERE IF YOU’RE IN A HURRY!!! My co-workers and I are regular customers at this place, we get take out from them at least 2-3 times a week if not more. Despite warnings from different people about the way this place handles business we remained faithful. However today we have experienced the unprofessionalism & the owner’s rudeness. We had a large order and due to the nature of our busy business we had to send someone else to pick up our orders, we specifically told the person took the order to take the name & phone number down because the person picking up our food doesn’t have time to check what’s all in there. They usually do a good job keeping up with the order so we TRUSTED them to do their job the way they supposed to do it. We were missing 1 order that was charged for and our drinks were also wrong. I called to let them know what happened. The gentleman who answered the phone asked what was my order and proceeded to LIE to me that he didn’t charge us for the item. I told him yes he did & the exact amount was charged because we only ordered 1 of that item and it was missing. When he was caught lying he then proceeded to state that it wasn’t their responsibility, our person should have checked & they couldn’t do anything about it. We trusted them to do their job, so they could charge it but yet couldn’t make sure to check if the item was included? So they’re just there to take money, what you get or not get is not their business? Why did he lie when I first asked him about the missing item that it wasn’t charged? And when I asked him if he charged us for the boba drinks he said he didn’t but the receipt clearly said boba drinks & our drinks didn’t have any boba in there? So he lied twice. The least he could have offered was an apology not the whole “not my business” attitude. Eventually you’ll have no business left.
REMEMBER TO CHECK YOUR ORDER, BECAUSE THEY DON’T CARE WHETHER YOU GET YOUR FOOD OR YOUR ORDER WAS RIGHT AND WILL JUST FLAT OUT LYING...
Read moreWhether the result of its downmarket location (beside a High Point Road pool hall) or the public’s unfamiliarity with its primary product, Banh Mi Saigon is one of Greensboro’s best-kept secrets. And were there any risk of this review inspiring a shortage, a secret it would surely remain.
Banh mi is a Vietnamese catch-all for a variety of sandwiches served on baguettes. At Banh Mi Saigon, you can pile on everything from roast pork and ham to beef and meatloaf to vegetarian mock-meat and more. All are made to order and come layered with veggies (watch out for the hidden jalapeno) and amply spread with mayo. No matter which option you pursue, you’re in for a treat. The bread is fresh and the fillings sublimely flavorful. I ordinarily detest liver, but their pork and pate sandwich — #2 on the menu – was a weekly standby all summer long. The BBQ pork (#4) and the grilled meatloaf (whiteboard special) are quite habit-forming in their own right. Among the non-sandwich offerings, the fresh spring rolls are tasty once you bite into them (especially when dipped in the accompanying peanut sauce), but the waxy appearance of the wrap is somewhat off-putting.
Given the quality of the food, it would be easy to expect pricing that belies Banh Mi Saigon’ss location. Fortunately, however, the opposite holds true: prices here are an absolute steal. Most sandwiches and the spring rolls are a meager $3.50 each, a few sandwiches run $3.75, and even the vermicelli bowls don’t run past $8. Consider what $3.50 will buy you at a fast-food chain, and you will marvel at Banh Mi Saigon’s ability to stay in business.
Though there are a few tables and chairs, Banh Mi Saigon is best utilized for takeout. The counter staff are polite and relatively quick, but the barebones interior lacks the ambiance to make dine-in worthwhile.
If you are a world traveler, chances are you have had better banh mi than you are likely to find here. But if you are a Greensboroian on a budget looking for a quick and satisfying meal, this is as...
Read moreEvery-time II am near the Greensboro Coliseum or driving near Gate City I have the need for Bahn Mi! There sandwiches are incredible, whether the original beef or my favorite the “Orleans” pork, you get a mouthful of flavor in every bite. The crunchy fresh vegetables and sliced jalapeños add that perfect kick to their well prepared beef and pork respectively. They also have a plate version which is usually premade and placed on a table near the front counter. That looks delicious and it’s just the same as the sandwich but without the carbs. The desserts are also on display either on the table or refrigerated. I have tried a few, including their take on rice pudding. It’s silver looking with a white cream on top and oddly it has cooked beans in it. Not the way I’m used to having it but it was actually good. I am tempted to try a lot of their other items but always get the sandwiches. The drinks look like smoothies and I have not tried one yet, they look delicious. They are in a small strip mall and have ample parking. You can order at the counter or at a kiosk, depending on the time of day you may have a wait time. It’s very laid back with limited seating as half the restaurant is closed off since Covid and they keep it piled with stock. Staff is pretty quick and friendly. It would be nice if they u cluttered the place and made it more spacious to dine in. If you have never had a Bahn Mi, do yourself a favor and swing by, you...
