I grew up in Alabama, on Gulf Coast seafood. I have had some of the best seafood and some of the worst. Captain Bill's is honestly in the top 3 seafood restaurants that I have EVER had. It is fresh, well cooked, and well seasoned (because let's be honest - if you ain't sneezing, it ain't seasoned).
My husband got some to bring home one nigh, and even though it wasn't fresh out of the oven when he got home, it was still warm and delicious. We got the Captain's platter that had a little bit of everything. It was so big that my husband and I shared i, and there were still leftovers. When we rewarmed it the next day, we put it in our air fryer for about 4 minute, and it was crispy and still delicious.
According to my husband, staff was incredibly nice, prompt, and got food from the window to the table quickly. He went on a Saturday night around5 p.m., and he said they were bus, but there were more than enough servers to help. No table seemed to be impatiently waitin, and the drinks were full. He also said that he was impressed with the fact that the tables were cleaned and ready for the next guests pretty quickly. There weren't table sitting with empty plates or drink cups. The staff was about efficient service while creating a ln atmosphere where the guests felt comfortable.
From everything my husband saw and the quality of the food, it's easy to say that Captain Bill's puts emphasis on good food, well cooked, well trained and considerate staff, and putting out a product that is as close to sublime as you can get. This is a reflection on the staff, the management, and the owners. It's good to know that when I want some of the best seafood around, it's about 10-15 minutes away (depending on who's driving - me or my husband). Captain Bill's is definitely the closest I can happily get to Gulf Coast seafood without taking a special trip back hom, and I will absolutely be a repeat customer.

Read moreThis was the first time I have eaten at this restaurant in years. It has been open for 40+ years and was the first place I ever ate souvlaki. I was looking forward to enjoying it again, but when it was served it came out sizzling on one of those hot plates like you'd get your fajitas on at a Mexican restaurant. The pork was already burnt and sticking to the plate. It was so overcooked that I could hardly bite into it. Tzatziki was also supposed to be served with the souvlaki, but when my food came out I was told that they were out of Tzatziki. Had I known that when I placed my order I would have changed my order to something different.
To say a little about the dinner menu, my guest and I felt that the restaurant had premium prices for substandard food.
On a better note, I ordered a side salad that came out crisp and fresh. The restaurant has homemade salad dressings, so I ordered French on the side. It came out in 2oz cups and it held in place when I turned the cup to pour it on my salad. It stayed in place even when I turned it completely upside down so I had to use a utensil to get it on my salad. To my surprise, it tasted pretty good.
I ate here at 7:15 on a Saturday night and the restaurant was nearly empty, so that should have been an indication that the restaurant was way past its prime. I wish I could recommend this restaurant to you but based on this experience I'd have to recommend that you spend your hard earned...
Read moreWe received hurtful and cruel service based on skin tone :( The waitress had very short brown hair. She first came to the table with shaking hands (not sure why). She kept returning to the table to bring drinks and take the orders in a very hurried and rude manner... we realized she was just really angry and started snatching the menus and speeding through the orders. Then when she left our table she went to slowly sit down at this elderly couples’ table like nothing was wrong at all. So we were very curious as to why she was acting so strange with us and our table, but not other tables?? Something really strange is going on with THIS waitress. We actually had to walk out and leave within the first few minutes of being there. This is before getting Food. We also told the manager why we had to leave. She gave a really bad reputation for this restaurant and as a result our entire table have stopped coming here. We used to come a lot, we will no longer come because of that waitress with very short brown hair. It seems as if she has personal issues with customers based on skin tone only. We had to come to this conclusion because we were so nice with her and we are very friendly people and she just treated us so badly for no reason. there was nothing we could say to her to make her smile or make her happy she just wanted to be angry with us for no reason. It was very,...
