Have cash when going to this chain of diners. Unfortunately, I have been patronizing this locations for many years and I hate to write this review. some of their staff is very friendly and can relate based on their experiences. That's what makes the food and service great. I had breakfast on Saturday, December 29,2018 around 6:45 /7 am and I stayed for an hour or so going through my email. I got up because the rush was beginning to come in and I didn't want to occupy my booth to accommodate. I go to pay for my 4.80 breakfast and my magnetic strip on my card did not work. The young man tried 3 times and ask if he could key it in and I said sure. I mean Walmart and other retailers do it all the time if the magnetic strip does not work. After he keyed my card in, he proceeds to ask for my drivers licenses. Please keep in mind that my debit card has my picture on it. I ask why and he says when we key in the debit card, we have ask for your license and write down you license number. Not thinking and I said ok. He takes longer to write down my number and I ask what is taking you so long? He replies, that he is writing down my address. Please keep in mind that I did not pay with a check and don't own checks. That makes me livid. I stated over and over my picture is on the card, as well as, my signature and it matches my licenses. He was hesitant to give both my debit card and license back to me. Please keep in mind the only difference about me from those 2 pictures is that my hair was covered by a hat and I recently got a nose ring. i snatched my cards and he ask me to sign the slip and I said, I am not signing(expletive) you have what you need and I walked out. Here are the next course of actions that I took: Keep in mind he said only license number, not my address. I called back in the store to speak with the manager and of course he justified it and wounded up saying why didn't I decline, after I started yelling at him that my picture was on the card and other major retailers and restaurants don't do that. We ended call. Please keep in mind that I was trying to be upstanding, they gave me a service and wanted to pay for it. I am African American and I did not want the cops involved. Even though it is a dated practice. unsatisfied, I call the Regional Rd location to see if it was a common practice. The young lady said it was not and she would email their home office. I said ok. She calls me back a few minutes later and gives me the home office number. I call several times and got a voicemail. Finally, I got somebody. Before getting somebody, I took to Facebook. A few folks found this to be suspicious and a dated practice and my brother wanted me to cancel my card immediately. Which I can not do because I am do a deposit on Friday. I am disabled and that 4.80 I spent was part of 20 put in my account by my son. As I stated, I did reach somebody at the home office. The person name was Alex. He defended the practice and said that it states it at all registers and it has been in practice for 2 years. I said no it don't. I said why when I ask young man about it, he didn't show me? Why did the young lady at Regional Rd tell me that when I ask was it a common practice? He said, he did not know why, but he knows its at all registers at all locations. Alex proceeds to say that I should be happy that they took my information to protect my identity. I lost it. My picture is on the card. He says anybody can make a duplicate of a card. I said so I am going to make a duplicate of my card and use it. I want to steal 4.80 from myself. My card with my picture on. I'm yelling he hangs up and I call back and tells me I am aggressive and hangs up again. I wait and call back to ask him to email me that policy and he said I was rude to him and don't call anymore.
I learned from a former employee it is an inconsistent practice and they throw the information away. So much for protecting my Identity. They will be held responsible if my identity is...
Read moreAfter seeing many leave negative feedback, I decided to do the same from my last visit there sometime back. Tho I had gone to eat here many times before, I have not been back there since this happened.
My Story:
There was a line waiting to get in. I was standing at the register waiting for a seat for one. There was one at the counter but I waited one half hour before they decided to put me in it. Got there in my seat and two or three left on my right side. They seated someone in those seats. Waitress never served me coffee or take my order. Then I realized waitress served the ones on my right side with their drinks, and still no waitress came to me for my order. I was already upset that it took 30 minutes to be seated in a seat that was empty the whole time I was waiting. The guy at the register who is always there knew I had been waiting for one seat and he could have put me in it immediately, but chose not to for 30 minutes. Anyway, once the people that was seated to my right were served their drinks, I looked at the girl to my left whom a server had just brought her more coffee without acknowledging my presence, and I said to her, “I waited 30 minutes to b seated in a seat that was available the 30 minutes I waited… the couple to my right was seated after me and have already been served their drinks, and I have not even been acknowledged I have been sitting here. I am leaving and will not be back. I have not been back since. Oh and another problem I had.. you earn points when u eat there. Well they cleared out those points and when I asked about them, he told me he would get them to send me the amount I had which was more than they now show. I NEVEN received any such thing even after asking them twice for it. Well, they owe me slot of points and they never sent them to me. SO, I have not been back since my disappointment the day they chose to keep me waiting before sitting me at the counter with no waitress for me. How much ruder can...
Read moreIsabelle was our Server, the Phone Answerer, Cashier, etc. extraordinaire!
Just like most places these days Carolina's Diner was also a bit understaffed, and an additional server was not in yet. But Isabelle handled everything with a cheerful attitude, and with swiftness, and politeness/respectfulness. She still was able to check on all of the customers so we all could feel like we were her only priority.
We got a lot of food for a very reasonable price and will be eating leftovers tomorrow!
Check out this below!
We ordered the Carolina's Big Boy Breakfast only $10.50 -
3 eggs, country gravy, grits, hash browns, 2 pancakes & a choice of 3 bacon or 3 sausage links. Served with a biscuit.
Oh, and the food was really good too. We especially liked how the pancake syrup was heated before Isabelle gave it to us.
We saw one of the burgers come out of the kitchen, it was huge! Think we'll be getting that next time!
Restrooms were clean too.
The decor is 50's like, with quite a few neat signs posted on the walls.
There was Booth seating with clear plastic film sheets hanging from the ceiling in between each booth so to help with Covid separation protocols.
Carolina's Diner is in Quaker Village and is on the backside of the stores there. You park in same lot as Walmart.
Happy Dining,...
