This was the the most infuriating experience I've ever had at a restaurant.
Let me start from the top:
They sat and forgot to not only give us menus but also to take our order. They didn't give us menus until ten minutes after they sat us and after 15 minutes we had to FLAG SOMEONE DOWN to get our orders taken.
That would have been water under the bridge if the rest of the experience was good.
We got there at 2pm and did not get our food until 4pm. Why? Because according to the owner, it takes 20 minutes to cook the chicken and apparently they have a single fryer. Everybody ordered chicken and waffles, and you would think that they would warn people, but no. We only got an explaination on the wait time after we inquired if the kitchen had lost our ticket to possibly explain the wait time. The owner had the audacity to tell us "everything is made to order, so it takes a while" well if that's the case, maybe everything shouldn't be "made to order". Especially if you know an item is popular why would you not prepare for a rush. They also mentioned our waffles were ready 30 minutes before our food was served to us. This leads me to believe that the waffles were just sitting there as our chicken was cooking, which is crazy because our waffles weren’t cooked fully as they were gummy in the middle. Honestly the stupidity of the entire situation left me more baffled than anything else.
I sat there in disbelief as the minutes ticked by, the ridiculousness of our situation growing. Then a table that came in 40 minutes before we got our food AT 4 PM (when they are closed) got their food at the same time. Let me explain the implications of that in case you're not following, THEY HADNT EVEN DROPPED OUR CHICKEN IN THE FRYER YET. OUR CHICKEN AND THEIR CHICKEN WERE IN THE SAME BATCH. I'm all for supporting black businesses but this one is poorly managed. I will never be coming back and will be telling everyone I know to never go. I would send out an APB if I could.
In conclusion the best time to come in is right before they close because you will be the last round of orders and the wait time will...
Read moreThis was our first time coming to this restaurant and food was great ESPECIALLY the fried chicken wings.I had a ham and cheese omelet, potatoes, pancake, mimosa, and cranberry juice. My partner had the chicken and waffles with a side of scrambled eggs. I enjoyed my omelette but I do believe that a side should be included with the omelette based on how much we paid for everything. My partner enjoyed their food but felt that the waffles were too thick and I felt the same about my pancake. I originally was going to order the bottomless mimosas for both my partner and I but after our server let us know it was $17+ each I decided to go with one mimosa for myself which was $7. The wait was horrible we waited over an hour for our food. While waiting I decided I wanted bottomless mimosas for myself and was told since I didn’t order my first mimosas apart of the bottomless mimosas I would have to pay for the one mimosa on top of the $17+ bottomless mimosas which is price gouging to me. I instead opted for a cranberry juice which they serve individual bottles of juices and they use plastic ware for all of their food and drinks so instead of individual bottles, I believe they should just decrease the price by buying bulk gallons of juice and using the plastic cups and allowing refills. I rated the service a 2 because I saw our waiter take napkins from another table that was from a family that had left already and proceed to give those napkins to another table that asked for them instead of going to the counter to grab fresh new napkins. This made me become very vigilant of what was being done with our food. I love that they had card games to play while you wait for your food but with waiting over an hour for our food games will not distract you from your hunger and hard seats. I would definitely give it a try again, but will order to go instead since dining in wasn’t the...
Read moreMy food was on point! Coffee delicious! I kept it traditional...bacon, scrambled eggs, grits w/cheese, toast.. (that damn grilled buttered toast was delicious)apple butter😋 and coffee. This was my 1st time visiting The Breakfast Spot, I stood by the door with another couple for about 5 minutes. I asked the young couple do we seat ourselves and they said 🤷🏾♀️ because it was their 1st time also. A young waiter was about 5 feet away but she failed to acknowledge us. I had to say excuse me to her 3 times before she finally heard me and I had to asked her do we seat ourselves? She replied yes ma'am and continued whatever she was doing, left us standing by the door like 🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️. Then Shawn 🦸🏿♂️walked up and addressed us, cleaned off tables and seated us. A 3rd couple came in after us and they got seated also. The young lady waited on the 3rd couple that came in last, 1st 🤨I saw Shawn 🦸🏿♂️speaking to her about it, as he should. Shawn was a sweetheart. He was my waiter and he immediately apologized for the wait which wasn't my issue, my issue was not acknowledging us for 5 minutes. I don't like feeling like I'm being ignored whether it was intentional or not. I understand it was busy on a Sunday afternoon and they only had 2 wait staff at the time but just acknowledge your guest as they walk into your establishment, even if you just say hello, welcome to The Breakfast Spot, someone will be with you shortly...BOOM! That's it! Shawn acknowledged me throughout my entire dining experience and he let me know what days/times are the busiest and what days/times are best to avoid a crowd. I will be back and I will let my family and friends know about TBS. I enjoyed my food and my overall service (minus the lil hiccup) and the music! Shawn turned the music up too! I hate I had to rate it 4 stars but next time I anticipate a 5 star experience! Thank you...
