"A giant among the hidden gems I've stumbled upon" I've been told about Toshi's recently by a friend. Which is pretty common in terms of true gems, that their information isn't passed around on cards or inadvertent ads that annoy you on the day to day. Toshi's is the kind of place that you only tell the closest of friends about. The ones that won't disturb it's peaceful atmosphere. It's the kind of place where you want to go with a close friend or loved one and have a place to settle down and let the day to day melt away from your body just on the entrance alone. Upon going in, I was greeted by the Owner themselves and was able to find out that they had been in operations for 10 years which truly bewildered me considering Greensboro is my standard stomping grounds for finding places but alas, I guess this was the right time lol. I also looked just to the left of the counter and was able to find Kewpie Mayo, Bulldog Tomkatsu sauce, and some rice seasonings among the galore of other items that were featured such as sweets, spices, varying ramen styles, and drinks! Afterwards I went back to the counter and looked at the menu and went with the California Crunch. Which is pretty much a California roll with some spicy mayo and crunchy bits on it and it was just astounding the flavor and love that went into these little bites of heaven! Also grabbed an Asahi "super dry" because why the heck not lol; They're delicious and was also gifted a small doughnut that truly wasn't overpowering and coupled well with the flavors on my plate and in my bottle. While Toshi's has a quiet atmosphere, it's humbling and honestly just one of the very definitions of vibe and aesthetic. Especially considering the MASSIVE Manga collection on the wall as well as the SNES classic set up for customers to be able to enjoy themselves with. Hopefully, if you're lost or need an atmosphere where you can just think coupled with delicious food, service, and amenities, take a hop to Toshi's and see what the quiet rage is all about. I'll be back soon with my significant other and look forward to her first experience here. And hopefully I'll get to thank Toshi again for the delicious experience.

Overall I would rate the place as a B+. The items they did well were the pork buns, the pork fried dumplings, and if you are into octopus, the octopus balls. I tried the octopus for the first time and while I am personally not a fan I can see how someone who enjoyed octopus might really enjoy them. They were crunchy and chewy on the outside and creamy in the middle. The octopus was chewy and a little too fishy for me. The fried dumplings were excellent! The pork had good flavor and they were cooked perfectly. The sauce the accompanied them was truly delicious. The pork buns were soft and doughy and the pork inside was insanely delicious. As for the sushi. It was a bit bland. For the price, you are probably better off going somewhere else. I had the rainbow roll and the salmon maki. The salmon was really too fishy. I do believe they serve real wasabi, however, I can’t confirm. Overall, we probably won’t be going back. The price was just too expensive and it’s pretty far from home. The little shop inside with snacks was adorable but a bit overpriced.

Absolutely amazing. If you want delicious ramen and sushi come here! Don't go to tampopo, don't go to sushi republic, take the trip. Their chicken thighs were cooked so perfectly and the seafood salad was the best I've had. Frankly, everything was the best of that thing that I've had. The ginger dressing, the sushi, the noodles, and the lemon cookie that they let us sample were all fantastic. 🍜 Without a doubt we will be coming back. We visited Toshi's Cafe a lot when we lived in Greensboro. Truly a gem. I still miss the karaage. I haven't been able to find karaage as perfectly cooked as Toshi's. We were always greeted warmly and of course the food was always delicious.

Part deli, part coffee shop, and part Japanese eatery, Toshi’s is a quirky little spot with much to offer. Like a coffee shop, it’s small inside with only a few tables. Shelved lined with manga, mugs, and decorative knickknacks enliven what would otherwise be a sparse interior.

The breadth of the menu is impressive if also a bit confounding. In the mornings, Toshi’s has a full array of breakfast sandwiches, a decent stock of baked goods, and a respectable selection of smoothies and coffee drinks. Come back later in the day, and you can enjoy a salad or sandwich or a sushi roll or a rice bowl or even a slice of cheesecake. This makes for a somewhat nebulous identity but also a convenient one-stop-shop for the hungry and undecided.

As it is on the way to work, Toshi’s has become a weekly breakfast stop for me. More often than not, I opt for the breakfast burrito, which comes stuffed with eggs, cheese, tots, salsa, and sausage (choice of meat is available and there is a vegetarian variant as well). The zest of the salsa and the texture of the tots put it several notches above a frozen or fast-food equivalent, but at $5.75, it’s also rather pricey. The smoothies are a slightly better deal at $3.85 for a small, $4.35 for a medium, and $4.75 for a large. I’ve tried several and have enjoyed some (the Green Machine and the Tooty Fruity) more than others, but none has been a disappointment. Another intriguing – if also overpriced – breakfast choice is Russell’s Rajun Cajun: egg whites, Cajun cream cheese, bacon, and scallion on an everything bagel: definitely tasty, but probably not worth $5.65.

Toshi’s gets its name from owner Toshi Yoshida, who can often be found behind the counter. Both he and his staff are friendly and accommodating, and I’ve yet to see them get an order wrong.

It’s been years since I’ve tried Toshi’s for anything besides breakfast. I remember their sandwiches being OK, and I will have to investigate their sushi and rice bowls some day. As a purveyor of morning munchies, Toshi’s consistently delivers enjoyable food with a smile. There are cheaper options, but what you get here is usually...

Toshis Cafe: A Hidden Gem!

Toshis Cafe is an absolute gem! From the moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor is charming and eclectic, creating a cozy and relaxing ambiance.

But the real star of the show is the food. I ordered the Toriten bento, and it was absolutely divine! Every bite was an explosion of flavor, and the presentation was exquisite.

The service was impeccable. Our server was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They made excellent recommendations and ensured we had everything we needed throughout our meal.

I highly recommend Toshis Cafe to anyone looking for a truly memorable dining experience. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply enjoying a casual night out, you won't be disappointed.

Key takeaways: Delicious food: High-quality ingredients, flavorful dishes, and beautiful presentation. Charming atmosphere: Cozy and inviting ambiance with eclectic decor. Excellent service: Attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable staff.

Overall: A must-visit for anyone who appreciates great food and a delightful...
