WAITING TOO LONG FOR FOOD: not a demanding person, but if one has to wait a long time for food ordered almost 30 minutes ago and it comes out Luke warm, that's not good. The food was good but the service was slow and no one bothered to stop by to say that there was a delay. Had this happened, this wouldn't be an issue. Of course I notified the server before leaving but was told "this is how we are every Fri" ; well, wouldn't this beg the need for more or a more efficient staff on those nights. Consider this, looking into the peek times when you are busy and adjust your staffing based on that and/or remind the staff that if there are going to be significant delays, let your customer know. Also, recheck the temp of the food prior to bringing it out if it's been left to sit in a warmer while awaiting part of an order. This turned out to be a popular spot for visitors coming from or going fishing. The place had a nice and friendly setting and is easy to access and identify at the base of the levee. It is located near the old train depot. It is an old house converted into a restaurant. This is a great reuse of old homes no longer in use or long forgotten. Repurposing building is good for the community and cuts down on eyesores in the neighborhoods therefore minimizing the impact on the adjacent properties. But for the slowness of the service and the kind of response received to the feedback provided (most people would walk away and either not come back or by word of mouth diminish the character of the restaurant) this would have been a great stop instead of good. My suggestion to any location, when receiving customer feedback in real-time, welcome it since in most instances it is meant in good faith to help...
Read moreI recently stopped in here on a night I didnt know what I wanted. Bad move as this place had a lot of interesting sounding items on the menu. I ended up wayyy over ordering! I started off with the boudin balls and gator bites. While both are good, they are really similar. Heads up, the gator bites are chopped up meat mixed with other stuff and pressed into a ball like a fritter. Since the boudin bites are made roughly the same way...it was hard to remember which was which. The waitress came out a while later and said they noticed they had some rib tips left. Since this was the dish that seems pretty popular here, I didn't want to pass up the chance to try that. Rib tips are not a common bbq menu item where I am from. I now know they are not my favorite. For those unfamiliar, what I got was a plate of all the cartilage end pieces of the ribs. It was also very fatty and full of connective tissue, not a lot of meat. If you are they type of person who likes chicken feet, you might appreciate rib tips...but not my thing. The rib tips came with 2 sides. I got the salad and the corn fritters. Corn fritters were tasty. All in all not bad. But unfortunately, at a BBQ joint, the best items were deep fried. The one waitress seemed very attentive, the other seemed lost. They both came to my table anddidn'tt seem aware that the other had brought parts of the order already. (I was 1 of 2 tables, so not sure how there was the confusion). Then a new guy wearing a dirty hoody and pants dropped off my rib tips. I was hoping, looking like he had been camping the past week, that he wasn't the one...
Read moreI guess that I can begin with the waitress’s lack of enthusiasm, humor or professionalism- at 1st I thought it was just our table but no; she seemed like she was having a bad day with others around us as well. Out of a party of 11, 6 of them were minors. Instead of asking if we were all on the same check-our waitress,Stephanie, refused to reprint the tickets so that she could keep the gratuity that was applied to the entire bill of 11 instead of splitting by families. I asked her about splitting the Bill upon arrival & she said that it would basically be no problem. After asking Stephanie several times why she didn’t ask or split the check before bringing it to the table, she simply said that she couldn’t. So we had to literally go down the list on the receipt-of about 20 items or more- & let her select what all 5 different families were paying for. Instead of voiding that check & giving us our 5 individual checks. On top of that, the drinks tasted funny so we requested bottled drinks instead of fountain drinks. The food was just ok, nothing to rant & rave over. Maybe Stephanie, the waitress, was having a bad day but it is not a good look for any business for the staff to have such poor customer service. I was recommended this restaurant but I am sure that I will never return & if it wasn’t my mother’s birthday, we would’ve left. I also would not recommend this place to anyone else. I experienced poor customer service, mediocre food, but the restaurant was...
