WORST restaurant experience ever. seriously. Arturo the manager & this female employee have like zero customer service skills. they mess up our order in an epic way & then refuse to refund our money or fix the order 🙄 and then, get this, this woman starts yelling in a ghetto manner telling me to leave & when I say I wanna speak to the owner, they instead call the cops on me instead 🤣 of course when I start recording the whole thing where the manager is embarrassingly indecisive & the woman is yelling as if she just got out of a ghetto, they start being polite. I asked, "is this how you treat veterans?" and she replies "wE oFfEr MiLiTaRy DiScOuNt" 😂 but you won't fix the order or refund the overpriced food? cops came, heard both sides of the story & were a little too embarrassed about the reason they were called by the manager. I was gonna leave but before I left, the cops even got me my refund for the worthless food of this restaurant. even they realized this wasn't this difficult. they messed up my order & they either needed to fix it or refund the money. this was only complicated for this worthless restaurant.

I was there for a late lunch on my favorite day, Taco Tuesday! They did have a taco special, but it was only tacos. No rice, no beans... Hmmm. So I ordered 2 tacos and a side of rice. The chips and salsa were only okay. The salsa got better when I doctored it with some of the hot sauce that was on the table. Still not great, but edible. Likewise, the tacos were okay. There was PLENTY of onion on them, but other than that, nothing special. They weren't seasoned well. Maybe too Americanized? The rice was very good, but do NOT add salt without tasting it first. I love salt and add it to almost everything. This did not need any more. Again, I loved it, just proceed with caution. I really wanted this to be my new go-to restaurant in Greenville. They have good ratings. Maybe I picked a bad day, or maybe they're trying too hard to cater to Tex-Mex. I'm not sure. Overall, I'll try again, but I'll ask for a recommendation from the server.

The food was ok. Not good but not horrible. Wasn't authentic like I have had at other restaurants. It was a mix between authentic and Taco Bell. Barbacoa taco's should have cilantro onion and tomato and shouldn't have sour cream. The service was friendly. So went again tonight, didn't get a jalapeno with the meal like I was supposed to. There were "no"spices used in my dinner. The steak was tough and bland. The shrimp and veggies were bland. Probably not going to go back...

Residing in the shell of an ex-Burger King, El Jalapeño is a solid Mexican joint with some quirky charm. Is it mildly surreal to sit at the bar and peruse a wide array of tequila sitting on shelves where menus once offered Whoppers? Absolutely! But you come to this place for three things: tamales, tequila, and that sweet sweet horchata. The surreal ghost of business past is just something you should enjoy, because they've really made this castle their own - the interior design is doing the best with the bones it has to work with, and it really is a nice place to enjoy just an ungodly amount of food!

The portions are generous, and the dishes are classics. Wet burritos thicker than your forearm, guac for days, and such salsa! Also, I have to reiterate - the tamales. A good tamale is the key to mi corazón. I'd order them by the bucket if they'd let me! Speaking of things I want buckets of - get the horchata. If you don't know what horchata is, it's like if rice pudding were a light, refreshing, and utterly delightful non-dairy beverage. True, if you're lactose intolerant and eating here, you're already up to your eyeballs in lactaid, but it's just nice to know that I'm not tempting fate with this fantastic dessert-flavored beverage.

Also of note: margaritas! Who doesn't love a good margarita with their burrito? They come in sizes that may as well be called "large," "haha jk no this one is large," and "dear liver, I regret to inform you that it has been a week, so buckle up because you're working overtime tonight," and with all of your tequila options, you can put as many exclamation points as you want/need on that last one.

Definitely...

So I can say is I was able to eat what I ordered the beer was cold and good cheap we're in a happy hour but let's go back to the food. I live in San Diego, 1989 January so, I think I know authentic when I taste it, but I'm sorry but it may be Americanized version of the thing but it is not Tijuana I think there was a Rita authentic or you know Mexican city I authentic, it was just all right. The atmosphere though, it was okay and familiar out cuz I also grew up in Greenville so I knew how what that building used to be back in the 80s, and until they left. Three stars is all I could muster up, which is not a bad score, it just gives the restaurant a challenge to go into, which is hopefully a more authentic boss race election and a much leaner menu. I must say though it is a Greenville and, people there have their tastes, it seems like everything comes wet from any restaurant these days but it's not well I'll just say that.. now let me say this my my family was in San Diego visiting me and I took him to a very nice fish restaurants on the bay two had ordered salmon but complained because they didn't smell the salmon which on my mind! So let that be a lesson to you about taste everybody's got a different ones I'm a nobody I can't even taste I go by text her right now however authentic it was not...

This is x 4 mistake that has not been made right , the last two times was completely dismissed . This time 4 tacos on wrong shells , no salsas x 3 different kinds . I either had to drive my food back into town for proof they were made wrong even if I sent a picture via the fb page or would have to pay for them again which I already paid for the tacos once and then was offered a % off but I would still have to pay again . Please get your customer service skills right and fix the issue on blaming the customer or that you are too busy to pay attention to orders going out . If you don’t want to and someone tries to make it right with the establishment dont disregard them , at least this time when bringing something to their attention they realized it , but was not hung up on without even a name taken like last two times , they acknowledged it was messed up but still expected the customer to pay twice for the same order then drive 15 minutes each way back into town in order to get them replaced . We really used to love the food and do order at least once a week from here but no more . As the last 2 months this is the 4th botched order , I have let some go and didn’t call but eventually they need to pay attention. Just save your money and gas and go to El Rancho , quality of food is also...
