On a recent return trip from South Florida to Asheville, NC, I had the opportunity to lunch at Myles Pizza Pub in Greenville, SC. From what I could gather, Chip Myles has been in the pizza business for over 40 years. He first started a very successful pizzeria in Bowling Green, Ohio, then followed his daughter when she moved to the Greenville area in 2016. Myles Pizzeria is situated in an unassuming building and neighborhood close to downtown Greenville, SC. As a friend and I seated ourselves at one of the open tables, I could see Chip working diligently behind the counter. We ordered a mushroom pizza and beet salad, which was taken promptly by the attending waiter. The beet salad arrived quickly and was quite generous in portion and taste. Our mushroom pizza arrived shortly thereafter. The following are my thoughts regarding my overall pizza experience. I was initially impressed with the generous portion size of our pizza. If you judge a pizza by the quantity of components, then this pizza served here certainly hits high marks. The crust, which was of medium thickness, was crisp and hot. The sauce had a homemade taste and was full of flavor, the cheese topping was rich and bountiful. If a person favors a more deep-dish style pizza, then Myles Pizza will be for you. In my opinion, pizza is more than the sum of its parts. Growing up close to New York City, I am used to eating a little more refined pizza. The cheese topping, which was so generous, buried the taste of the mushrooms and sauce below. A thinner crust, which better emphasized a balance between the sauce, cheese, and mushroom topping would have elevated the pizza flavor. Overall, I can recommend the pizza served at Myles Pizza. Guests will certainly not leave hungry. A little more refinement would go a long way toward elevating the pizza experience I...
Read moreWe heard about Myles' through some friends who desperately missed their restaurant in Bowling Green, Ohio.
We were "challenged " to go try it --- and once I saw a picture of the pizza online --- I KNEW we had to go.
We arrived late afternoon and it was nearly full, but there was a table available, and we were quickly seated.
Problem: choosing ONE pizza to try!! My goodness, there is a plethora of choices, and they ALL read delicious.
We decided on and ordered the 9" Vegetarian Lovers --- and it was plentiful AND delicious! These pizzas are thick and loaded with goodies.
This will be a regular stop on our restaurants to visit in the Upstate of South Carolina --- and is an IMMEDIATE favorite.
We told our waitstaff about the challenge from our friends and we tried not to be too presumptuous --- bit we wondered if we could get a pic with Chip (proprietor) knowing he was elbow deep in food prep --- but, lo and behold --- not 5 minutes layer he came to our table.
We had a great (and brief) conversation with this gracious man, and he accommodated our request for a selfie.
This is a well-run establishment by Chip --- but we also witnessed their incredible customer service. This, too, originates from Chip's leadership.
We sent the picture of Chip --- AND the pizza to our friends. One could feel the joy in their response.
We are SO glad we went --- and we will definitely return because we have only scratched the surface of what they offer.
The garlic bread looks decadent! The salads look incredible! ....and there are so many other...
Read moreMy husband and I have eaten at Myles Pizza twice now.
Our first visit was as a dine-in party of six; hubby and I split a single pizza. There were only two sets of napkin-wrapped silverware on the table, no napkins were provided with the appetizer, and we couldn't catch the waitress to ask for more before she brought out the entrees. The kitchen utterly botched our order (the waitress HAD taken it down correctly), but it took SO long for the food to be prepared the first time that we weren't interested in the offers to re-make the pizza.
Our second visit was an online order of two individual pizzas (paying a higher price in the hopes that we'd both get what we ordered this time). When ordering online, you're required to choose a dipping sauce, which I was pretty excited to try. I got to the restaurant before 5:15 with a promise that it would be ready at 5:45. I sat in the waiting area for a full fifteen minutes without once being acknowledged by anyone on staff. At 5:30 I finally interrupted one of them so that someone knew I was there... and my pizzas were already cooling on the shelf. Got home and guess what? No sauce in either pizza.
Y'all, these pizzas are TO DIE FOR. I'm sure we'll be back again ourselves. Just brace yourself for the overall experience you...
