with covid restrictions gone, the restaurant appeared to be way over normal capacity because in addition to their normal seating they had tables in most of the parking lot. big mistake. at one point a gentleman who looked like the owner or manager was three feet from our table and he cursed loudly using the f-word regarding the inability to service all the patrons. you ask - why did they book so many tables? ask the manager.
four of us waited more than 5 minutes b4 we got too impatient (we are from NY) and literally walked around looking for someone to come to the table. the person who looked like a manager - same person who cursed - (he did always smile but I could imagine what he was thinking) came over and started the process.
once we ordered the service got better. the food is old school and mostly tasty. for what you get it is on the expensive side. portions were fine.
the calamari was like rubber. we should have sent it back but we were too hungry at that point. I asked that all the sides be left off my plate (potatoes and vegetables) and asked if I could just have a small side portion of pasta and was told ok. when the bill arrived we were charged $4 extra for the pasta when it seemed clear to me that the pasta would be a substitute for the regular sides. we simply paid for it.
my friend ordered a beer and specifically asked the it be served with the main course and not before. the server acknowledged this and of course the beer showed up early, very early. we just let it pass.
my fish and the other dishes were tasty. good bread served w butter and olive oil. white wine by the glass was served properly chilled and was good - sauvignon blanc.
and one very good plus - at the beginning we asked for lemon for our water and lemon was delivered . my experience tells me that this happens about 25%...

Five stars all...
Read moreOn 12/17/22 I dined with my friend to celebrate his birthday. Even in the backroom next to the fireplace it was loud. The service was good and attentive at first when we arrived around 4 on a Saturday, by 5, our server vanished. There were plenty of staff milling around, and they were not paying attention to us. The prices are super expensive for what you get for the quality and portion size. The bread was mediocre, and the olive oil was too strong for my liking. The best thing was the mango salad with beets, the portion size was good, and it was tasty. The chicken parmesan was okay but way overpriced at $30, that was the least expensive entree. The capellini that was served with it was overcooked, and the tomato sauce was way too salty. My friend ordered the veal with mozzarella, he said it delicious, it was $36. We ordered dessert that was not worth the price. The Chocolate "Mousse" tasted like and was the consistency of Betty Crocker chocolate frosting from a can. The Tiramisu was bland and tasteless. Neither of us had alcoholic drinks, and the bill was $125 before the tip, $150 with tip. I am happy to pay $125 for an outstanding delicious meal with attentive service. Unfortunately, Louie's was very...
