The Mill House is a local pizza restaurant and brewery. I've been a few times when making day trips to Greenwood.
The restaurant itself is fairly large, and can accommodate larger groups of people if needed. I've personally never had to wait for a table, but I tend to go there at odd hours. There is also bar seating available. Outdoor seating is a little small, only about 4 or 5 tables available. There is plenty of parking in a public lot across the street. Street parking is also available in front of the restaurant.
I usually get the Pauly's Preferred pizza. Pizzas are all personal sized so its a little tricky ordering for a big group sometimes. Would be nice if there were options for a variety of sizes. One personal pizza is plenty of food however. If you are someone who likes smaller meals of pizza, or would only eat a slice or two of Domino's, you will have leftovers. The pizza is wood fired so the crust is thinner and a bit crispy. Otherwise, crust is not dry and all the ingredients are fresh. I think the ratio of toppings to cheese and sauce is good as well. My only complaint would be that the sausage is slices of links instead of ground sausage.
I've never had an issue with the staff, although they can be a little slow if the place is busy. They will also recommend drinks and are usually very good at recommending.
Food and drink is a little pricey, but it is a local place and you can tell the ingredients and drinks are fresh. Expect to pay about $12 per pizza and drinks are between $5-$8. Building your own pizza can get pricey as well, with each topping being either...
Read moreThe Mill house was a pleasant enough place near the hotel I stayed at and judging by the limited menu seems to specialize in all types of pizza. I didn't feel like pizza so ordered a meatball sub with a pickle and pasta salad. The meatballs were very good as was the kind of hot spicy tomato sauce on them. The pasta salad was just OK, not much dressing on it and the pickle was a pickle. what can you say about a pickle spear ? While the food was good, the meatball sub didn't seem to be much more then 2 meatballs but cut up and the bread it was served on didn't seem to even be a whole role, in fact I couldn't even pick it up to eat because the meatballs would've fallen out of what little bread it was on. The side of pasta salad was very small. The waitress was very nice, but when she brought out my food I was kind of shocked at how small it was. Really it looked like a kid's meal. This was $9.50. Maybe they want you to have room for dessert but I could've eaten a whole other dinner. I left the place still hungry and for that reason alone I would never return. I have to add, just to put this in perspective, I am 5'5" and weigh 112 pounds. In other words as a small person, when I say this was a small meal,...
Read moreSo my family and I chose to eat at #MillHouse in Greenwood, SC tonight. Seriously bad decision. We arrived at 5:50 pm to put our name in for seating, a party of 9 adults and one toddler because we understood this is a holiday weekend and they will be busy. We were finally seated at 7:30 primarily because the adolescents at front of house could not figure out how to pull a six top and a four top together to create a ten top. There did not seem to be a real adult in attendance that was managing anything. One of the kids that was trying to manage front of house actually raised his voice to me and was completely inappropriate in his response to me when I questioned them about why it was taking so long to seat us. I asked him in a respectiveful manner. I was not ugly or aggressive in my inquiry to him. But he raised his voice and was ugly to me to the point that I said to him he needed to show some respect. My family and I over the years of Mill House’s existence have spent thousands of dollars there and have tipped the wait staff very well. I am done now. Do not go to the Mill House if you have a party larger than...
