Good food and a great family atmosphere at the restaurant itself. Reason for 2 stars: we used mutts to cater our wedding a few weeks ago, big mistake. It was an absolute nightmare. Where to even begin. First, they have no contracts, paperwork, email communication, nothing. All I got was a phone call to set everything up. I get the owner wants to keep it old-school but we are in the 21st century. Simple email documentation is pretty important in my opinion when scheduling catering for 100 people at a wedding, especially when you're spending almost $2,000.00 with a business. As the bride I already had enough to remember and handle, so not having a paper trail was extremely stressful and near impossible to keep up with. I was told (over the phone) that I needed to pay a week in advance for the catering, so I went up to the restaurant since no one could answer the phone (they were/are extremely busy most the time, which is a good sign) to pay my deposit. The young girl at the counter was very nice but so busy that 15min after I waited to speak to someone she asked me to call or come back, but I said no since no one was able to answer my calls earlier and I was told to pay 1 week ahead. Finally, a gentleman in the back shouted and asked my name on the reservation. I responded, told him the date, and he looked at a big white board and said "Yep we got you down". OK, so what about payment? Do you have my order correct ? What time will you arrive? - it's written down somewhere. At this point I'm so flustered, I just thanked them and said I guess I'll just have to trust you. With no paperwork or contracts I was hanging on to their word only. I contacted my coordinator to handle it because I needed answers and I did not want to be a bridezilla. The next morning she was able to get someone on the phone to confirm my order status, timing for delivery and everything else. So payment: they said I would be paying them that night before they left. No. I am not going to be worried about carrying around my credit card to pay for anything the night of my wedding. This to me is just unacceptable to ask. They left me a bill and I was asked to pay the next day. Which of course I did, but the charges were more than what was discussed, but what can you do without paperwork or contacts?! They arrived on time, had plenty of food which was good and fresh as far as my guests told me. They do however take all the food and drinks with them when they leave, what they do with all the leftovers, I have no idea... I have been to this place before to sit and eat and it was great. Friendly staff, clean restaurant, good home-cooked food, which is why we choose them. But with catering, they are extremely unprofessional, lack communication and caused me so much stress that I will not be back. Which is really sad, since i prefer small businesses, keeping my money local, and I really liked their food. To management: I highly suggest that if you are going to advertise that you offer catering, have some documentation not only for the peace of mind of the client, but to protect yourselves. If you're like me (who does in fact also own a small business) and you like documentation of communications and agreements, then do not use...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWelcome to Mutts Barbecue in Greer, South Carolina, folks! This down-home barbecue joint is a must-visit for anyone looking for some of the best slow-cooked meat in the state.
As soon as I walked in, I was hit with the sweet, smoky aroma of barbecue. The restaurant is cozy and inviting, with friendly staff and a laid-back atmosphere. The menu is simple but packed with mouthwatering options, from pulled pork to brisket to sausage.
I tried the pulled pork sandwich, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The meat was tender and juicy, with a perfect balance of seasoning and smoke. The sandwich came with a side of tangy coleslaw, which complemented the pork perfectly. I also tried the mac and cheese, which was creamy and flavorful, with just the right amount of cheesy goodness.
One thing that sets Mutts Barbecue apart from other barbecue joints in the area is their commitment to using high-quality ingredients. All of their meats are sourced from local farms and are slow-cooked over hickory wood for hours to ensure maximum flavor and tenderness. The sides are made from scratch and are the perfect complement to the flavorful meats.
The staff at Mutts Barbecue are some of the friendliest and most knowledgeable around. The owner, Mike, is often on hand to chat with customers and make recommendations. He takes pride in his restaurant and is passionate about providing customers with the best possible dining experience.
The atmosphere at Mutts Barbecue is relaxed and casual, with plenty of seating both inside and outside. The restaurant is family-friendly and has a kids' menu, making it the perfect spot for a family dinner or a casual lunch with friends.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food was good but the price was steep. I have been to no less than 27 BBQ buffets in South Carolina. This was my first time at this one. This was the most expensive of all. One reason why, it was overly expensive is, I was charged an extra $2 for something called a āfacility feeā. Basically, making this meal an extra $1 than the advertised price. I have never heard of such a thing but I suspect it is the same thing as the unethical fee that is added to people who use a credit card at a few places. This practice used to be illegal up until recently. There is a reason why it was illegal. It is unethical. Thankfully, most businesses are NOT doing this because they know itās not ethical. As a business owner myself, I know full well that when setting prices of your product or menu, there is a common statistical percentage of customers who will use a credit card and, knowing this, that is factored into the price of the product/menu prices. So, to take advantage of that unethical law, is basically DOUBLE charging. I know it is usually called a āconvenience feeā but the truth of the matter is the convenience is for the merchant, not the customer. I realize this Biden inflation is the reason for the ridiculous increase in prices but we can still be ethical in spite of his poor leadership. If the food was not as good as it was, I would be leaving one star. To make things even worse, I was asked if I wanted to add a tip to the credit card. I have never been asked for a tip at a self-serve buffet in my life. The only time I have ever tip at a buffet is if there is a waitress walking around refilling drinks and then I would only leave maybe $1/diner. My suggestion is to do away with asking people if they want to leave a tip, because people frankly have ātip fatigueā. Also, I would do away with charging extra for credit card users, because that is a type of economic persecution, which is why this used to be illegal. If you want more money, be straightforward about it by simply raising the buffet price. If it runs people away or causes less business, then...
