We were traveling & staying at a hotel in town. This place looked like an excellent place to eat... Not so much!! Parking sucked but that's not a big issue. Had a drink at the bar & had the best "blended" (what we say in WI) (evidently they say frozen here) margarita served by Robyn. Thank you Robyn for the good drinks & your friendliness! Unfortunately that was the best experience for me while there! We asked for a table & were seated. We sat there for at least 15 or more min. before we finally said something to a waitress that was standing right near us at what appeared to be some type of station they do whatever at, obviously it's where they hang out on their phone because that what we saw. She had her back to us & was texting, FBing or whatever. Anyway she took our order when we got her attention. We ordered an appetizer of fried green tomatoes which I have to say we're excellent. A different gal that I guess was to be our waitress brought them. Then we didn't see her again to order out dinner so we flagged down another waitress & asked her if she'd get our waitress. Waitress came & we ordered...I got beef tips with sauteed onions & green pepper. There were a couple of small pieces of green pepper & onion which was disappointing in itself. Then, the steak was so tough I couldn't eat it. Took one bite, tried to chew it, spit it out, tried again twice with no luck. Waitress asked if I wanted a to-go container & like not so much! I told her the steak was tough & I couldn't eat it & her only response was "how did you order it" which shouldn't matter (it should be edible)!! That was her only response, really??? I did order it med rare which I told her but if I'd have ordered it well done she was ready to blame it on the way I ordered it. In the 1st place I've never ever had beef tips that weren't tenderloin. When done eating & waiting we finally had to flag her down for our check. My only real regret with this horrible experience is that we tipped at all. Waitresses...
Read moreDisappointing lunch today. Our server was great but the food was a disappointment. It started with the appetizer. We ordered a cheese plate which typically has fairly large cheddar cheese cubes served along with sausage, ham, pickles, and jalapenos. Today they served whatever cheese they had in the kitchen, which in this instance was American cheese sandwich slices stacked together then cut to look like cubes. I suspected something was wrong but hoped they were cheddar slices. Wrong. First bite was disgusting (I hate American cheese). I had just ordered a load chicken potato with just chicken, butter, bacon, and cheddar. Because if the difference, I went to the server to question the cheese from the cheese plate and let her know that if my potato was served with American cheese I would not eat it. She came back and informed us that the kitchen was out of cheddar for the cheese plate, therefore they would not charge us for it but that they were going to the store to get some cheddar. When our loaded chicken potatoes were served, they had extremely skimpy amounts of cheese on them (if the cheddar from both potatoes had been put on just one, it still would have been less than the normal amount for an individual potato). They were both also missing the butter and bacon. My husband ate his. He'll get mine for dinner tonight.
This is not the norm for Jake & Rips and because of that, we will...
Read moreOh my! Where do I even start? This was hands down the worst dining experience in my 46 years on this earth. We had a waitress (server #7) on the receipt, since she never actually introduced herself. She would speedrace to our table and ask us what we wanted, and race off. It took 25-30min after we ordered to get our food. When we got our food it was cold. Nothing like biting into lukewarm pulled pork. My mom sent her food back to be reheated, and we seriously never saw her food again! I wish I was joking. We never saw the waitress again either, so after 25-30 more minutes of my mom watching us eat, I got up and requested to see the manager. Then magically our waitress appeared with the same plate of cold food and a "message" from the manager that we didn't have to pay for my mom's meal. I guess the manager didn't think that we were important enough to come speak to us herself. Then my mom found a hair on the plate of food she had sent back. There is no telling where that plate was for 25min. We were thoroughly disgusted, repulsed, disappointed, and just plain shocked at the horrid customer service. I wouldn't step back in that place with someone else's feet. Just plain horrible. I can not express to you what a horribly disappointing experience this was. Dont waste...
