The service has gotten worse since we've been coming here, which is a bummer because it's super close to our house and the food and beer are always top notch. We're not quick to give up on a place, but we've given it 3 chances over the last year and each time we're disappointed again and end up leaving with a bad taste in our mouths. We're not that picky about being left unattended for 20 minutes or so, we almost prefer that, but the last two visits were ridiculous. For a place that specializes in beer they sure don't come by for a second round offering. Sometimes they don't even remember to bring our first ordered round. Once the food comes we can't even make eye contact with a server until they bring us the check. Maybe we keep ending up in the limbo tables that are shared and forgotten between servers, but it's happened each time we've gone. We also had an instance where we were misquoted on the price of their growler jars and paid way more than we were told while also receiving different beers than we ordered (which we didn't realize until we got home and drank some). And the first bad experience was a very rude server making snide comments to me about finishing all my food, as well as ignoring us by hanging out behind the bar (there were only 3 other tables so it really wasn't busy). He seemed like he may have been having a bad day so we tried to forget about it -plus we haven't seen him again so he may have left- but with the consistently disappointing service the two times following that, including just the other night, it looks like we'll be trying Edgefield or one of the other locations around when we want our...
Read moreWas here Saturday 2/17/18 for my “cheat day” (workout plan). Anyway, looking forward to having a GREAT juicy fatty delicious meal, we decided to go here. We arrived just before 6 PM. They were already out of “Cajun tot seasoning”. I was so disappointed. Those cajón tots r a staple! How could you run out on a Saturday night before 6pm?! I didn’t ask but the waiter didn’t miss the opportunity to say “it’s not my fault she over pours that stuff”. I had wanted tots so badly, I decided on them anyway, even without the seasoning. I was served tots that seemed undrained, like they just scooped them from the grease and poured em into my basket, grease and all. Like soup with tots, except the soup was grease. I couldn’t eat them. I didn’t even mention it since I’d already asked for my burger with no sauces, just meat, cheese, lettuce and the bun. I got sauces and my mother in law got HERS plain. We mentioned it thinking we would both get our orders “fixed”. He came back w just swapping out the buns for my burger, same content inside from the old & didn’t even address my mother in laws being wrong. He looked frustrated and said “they’ve been doing this all day!!”. Before it was time for us to pay, he said “I promise I wrote the orders right. It wasn’t my fault”. Again, throwing someone else under the bus. So, all in all, no seasoning for tots, grease soup with tots, my order was wrong & my mother in laws was wrong & he seemed to blame everyone else. He didn’t even credit our bill as a courtesy. It was the worst service and disgusting meal. Unfortunate that I wasted my cheat meal on one I didn’t...
Read moreFirst off, I want to say that my friend and I are accustomed to pub food and we generally enjoy Mcmenamin's pubs. However, I probably won't to be visiting the Highland Pub again anytime soon. The meal started off with a misunderstanding on my drink order, but I didn't really say anything about it. Then, I ordered a dungeon burger and tots, and my friend ordered a TNT basket. Burger was prepared wonderfully, though lacking in signature ingredients. My friend's TNT basket was delivered to the table observably burnt. I was pretty surprised that the cook had the balls to dish it up, let alone for waitstaff to serve it. I complained to our server, and he made it right as quickly as he could. However, all of the fried food proved to be really disagreeable to our stomachs. It was as if the cook was frying everything at a lower temp for a longer time, allowing the grease to infiltrate more completely into a formidable gut bomb. In the end, it was more a failing of the cook than waitstaff. When I drop $50 on dinner and drinks, I prefer to enjoy the experience and not spend the rest of the evening...
