Stop over in NOLA as we head back home after week in Orange Beach, AL. Came in on suggestion of friends and everything was going good even with a thirty minute wait UNTIL we got seated. Our waiter(Alan) was short & curt with questions from our table and when I asked about the dinner special it was as if i had asked for a kidney. He huffed & puffed and told me about the Prime Rib on the menu not the special. I started with a cup of the seafood gumbo with okra and it was very good. Good flavor with plenty of seafood, oysters, shrimp & i think i got a couple bites of crawfish. Entrees...my wife ordered the mahi mahi topped with crabmeat with side of sweet tater fries. She absolutely loved the fries, mahi-mahi well it was over cooked and dry. I ordered the fish stuffed with crab dressing & side of fries. While the fish looked a little anemic the stuffing was PHENOMENAL! It was so good i wanted a pan of it great flavor with plenty of crab. The side of fries were thick, cooked perfectly crispy outside soft & hot inside plus they had just the right amount of seasoning. My brother-in-law had the 1/2 fried chicken dinner with sweet tater fries & coleslaw. He also raved about the fries but chicken was over cooked and the batter needed some salt. He needed to add some hot sauce to get some flavor. He was disappointed because he use to eat here a lot when stationed at NOLA NAS and remembers quality of food and service being much better. While everyone ate their food would not be something I would make special trip, when so many great choices in NOLA...

My wife and I have been eating here for years and I’m disappointed in saying that the quality of their food has gone down as their prices have gone up. A good example of this is the pictures that I have shown these or their photos that they posted. This is grilled tuna on Romain lettuce with avocado and wasabi dressing. when you get the meal , trust me it doesn’t look anything like this, but you can tell from the photo that there is no Romain lettuce. It’s Romain stocks and if you look at their website and go over the pictures of their menu, you can see where it is increased over the years. I have also gotten their fish plate and ordered it grilled what I ended up with was a catfish grilled cut into two pieces that’s a end of story. What sad is I know the owner I don’t know if he knows what’s going on with his kitchen but it is no longer a go to for me.

I heard the burgers were great here. Came for lunch, pretty full dining area. Sat in the bar area at a table. Ordered a burger, fries well done, and a side salad. Soon, the salad came... I asked the server to make sure the fries were well done, she said she told the kitchen. The burger and fries came (a different server), of course the fries, white and cold. I asked her to take them and please get well done fries. Very polite, no problem. Got me a second plate to put the burger on. I picked up the burger, and between the meat juices and lot o mayo... the bottom bun had disintegrated. Ended up using a knife and fork for the burger. The fries came back perfect. I experience sending fries back 80% of the time. Don't know why restaurants can't do it right the first time. Anyway, nice place, servers are friendly and polite. Food is OK.

After so many years of enjoyment at this icon restaurant, we were asked to vacate a table before the last of the party of five was finished eating!!!

Again, AFTER SO MANY YEARS OF ENJOYMENT AT THIS ICON RESTAURANT, where we have celebrated many things, finished off meetings with food and fun, bring all out of towners to enjoy, etc. (My spouse was there for the third time that week, we live in Mandeville.) I have to address the unbelievable situation that happened to us on 2/8/18 @ 2:24 Chk 1805 Tb1 12/1 Gst 5 24 Randi B.....

The whole party was not finished eating when the waitress came and as she was picking up dishes she informed me that we needed to leave the table because a party had been waiting on that table for 35 minutes...that we could set at the bar or on one of the benches?

Immediately most of us started getting up and I noted that one in our party was not finished eating. As we were walking away from the table, I was STUNNED....THERE WERE NUMBEROUS TABLES THAT WERE VACANT; ONLY SIX OR SEVEN TABLES WERE OCCUPIED. Note: we were seated at that table by the staff when we arrived.

Plus we just got up without thinking about the fact that we had not been there very long and all had not finished...he ordered dessert.

We then went to the waiting area by the hostess. The last one of our party to join us after he finished his food and paid the bill.....immediately ASK WHAT HAD JUST HAPPENED; AS HE LEFT THE TABLE HE NOTED THAT SEVERAL TABLES IN OUR LOCATION WERE AVAILABLE.???

After we as a group discussed this in the waiting area; I went back to the waitress and asked why we were asked to vacate the table?

PLEASE NOTE: We had not been there a long time....we ordered and we ate...no lingering was happening...and AGAIN THERE WERE NUMBEROUS TABLES AVAILABLE ALL AROUND US IN THE MAIN DINING AREA????

I asked waitress "why were we asked to leave and especially since there are so many other tables available???" She answered with random statements: as follows: "Closing a section" Note: People were now seated at our vacated table. ??? "The other people really wanted that table". ????? "The assistant manager said it was o.k." ???? "I'm sorry". ????

I kept standing there and asking the question - why were we asked to leave that table and waitress kept repeating all of the above. I realized that was a dead end to a truthful answer...so I left.

I walked past the hostess and then backed up to ask her if that was the manager at the cash register behind the bar and she said no that was the bartender and then lowered her head as though she did not want me to ask her anything else.

There were two men that witnessed my talking to the waitress...they were connected to the restaurant and were seemingly on a break sitting in the private dining area across from the waitress station. One had come out to were my group was seated as we were talking before I went back to talk to the waitress...said nothing.....just stood there for a moment and walked away.???

I know that nothing was done by my group for us to be asked to leave!!!!

The table was immediately taken over by a younger group of people about the age of the waitress. ????????

I base this on my last experience 6/19/17. Normally it would be a 5, food, service is usually always top notch. We were greeted as always friendly hostess, seated just in the main dinning room. Third table on the left as we entered. Server comes up "can I get ya'll a drink?" No hi my name is... We order, she takes off! I said we would like to order our appetizer. She says I'll be back. Several minutes later she brings drinks, no smile, we order app. She runs off again. About ten minutes later she comes wih app ask if we're ready to order we order. All the while we are seeing her smile and ask is everything ok at certain tables. She does a fast walk by and throws my salad on the table and says salad. We never got a smile out of this woman. After our food comes we eat she brings the bill, "was everything ok" as she was walking away, not waiting for an answer. My grandson is a cook in a near by restaurant and was trained in the kitchen and the front of the house. I was a server years ago. He paid the bill and did not tip. He got upset with me because I tipped the 18%. He said Nana servers should earn their tips you know that. If anything you should have given her a dollar. I said maybe next time she will not prejudge people. I know having been in the industry most servers think tables with just men will tip better. Not always the case I know personally many men who do not like tipping. Not all men respond to flirtation. Woman think she may be supporting a family and I know they don't get paid much. I hope she learns to be nice to everyone after all no matter how good the food, servers can turn...
