Where to begin….i made a birthday reservation for 5:00 Saturday Aug 31. I made the reservation for early dining due to we had a toddler with us I figured we’d be done by 6 or 6:30, perfect amount of time dining with a baby (at least at Mandinas it was) At 5:00 p m there was a line waiting for the door to open. Such a large following. I really want this place to make it. We need you but you have to do better.
This would be my 3rd time giving you guys another shot, figuring you had to work out the kinks.
The first two times every meal we had I’d describe with a “but,”…..salad was good but drenched in dressing (both visits) shrimp scampi was tasty but super soupy, pizza was ok But way too much cheese, moist and premade crust, Meatballs and spaghetti, just ok.
Tonight was a disaster. We brought my birthday cake to be cut after dinner but had to just take it home to cut or we’d still be there. At 6:00, thirty seconds before the food arrives, server tells us that the kitchen informed her that they are out of stuffed shells (you have only been open 1 hour). Two of our guests choose an alternative and about 10 seconds later, everyone else’s food arrived… leaving two in our party with nothing. The other items that did arrive? Fish almondine served so cold that the sauce was like gel, a rare steak that was ordered medium rare and still was tough to cut, and a couple of other sub par meals including soggy eggplant sticks. I saw no breading at all. Now we wait for the two in our party to get their alternative food choices. By the time they get it, and eat, it’s nearly 700! No birthday cake and a tired toddler with a wet diaper ( no changing tables in restroom) who still has to come to my house so we can cut the cake.
We consulted the manager who was kind and said he’d make it right. However the server, who we hardly ever saw (but was so overwhelmed and overworked), was not made aware of this by him. And so we were presented a full bill of over $200. It was so chaotic with the noise, the crowd and a tired baby, we just paid it and got the heck out of there. I am so angry with myself for not following up on just how the manager was going to make this right, if even possible.
I realized that I wanted this restaurant to make it and kept sugar coating my descriptions. I should not have to say it was good BUT. If I have to say that, it’s not good. The food is just OK. I have eaten on Carrollton and do not recall the food being this bad. The communication between kitchen, servers, management was not apparent at all. Also, who is in charge of placing food orders? Did no one tell the staff you were out of stuffed shells? Could we have been told this at the beginning instead of after waiting an hour for the shells that would never come?
Do you get a fourth opportunity? You guys were handed over a great, thriving restaurant and I know good help is hard to come by these days. But if you are going to make it you have to do better. Or call...

This was a horrible experience…I booked a reservation for 4 people at 8:00PM on Wednesday 8/14/2024.
When we arrived, The Yat Pack was playing and there was cake and ballons everywhere. Apparently, it was their ribbon cutting night.
While is was quite loud, we were excited about the atmosphere and the hype.
Our server Haley D, came to our table and we ordered drinks. We ordered regular soft drinks and 2 martinis. I asked for Tito’s martini with a splash of olive juice and blue cheese stuffed olives. Haley informed me they didn’t have blue cheese olives. No big deal, regular olives are fine. My friend ordered for a manhattan up. It took 20 minutes for our drinks to come out. My martini came out extra dirty with no olives and the manhattan came out on the rocks.
The manger came to our table while we were waiting for appetizers. He randomly asked us for Ibprophen.
For appetizers, we ordered calamari and the spinach dip. Both appetizers were mediocre. We ordered our entrees, a bottle of Belle Glos and asked for refills. Our refills and wine didn’t come out until we were almost done our entrees. We requested red pepper flakes and Parmesan cheese for the veal. The red pepper flakes came right away and the Parmesan cheese came after we were done our entrees and our plates were stacked on the table.
For entrees we ordered the Shriml scampi pasta, paneed veal, ribeye, and fish almondine. I have never seen my boyfriend not finish a steak. We order the ribeye rare and it came out med-well. It was so salty it was almost inedible. The fish almondine was bland. The fish came out piping hot and the sauce was cold. The paneed veal came with alfredo pasta. The pasta had no seasoning at all and the veal was dry. The shrimp scampi sauce was just pure lemon juice.
We were all disappointed. We decided to get dessert. We ordered 2 cannoli and a tiramisu. The dessert was lovely.
After this experience, I don’t see us going back. The food and service was just disappointing.
I forgot to mention, there was glass in my...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Venezia Pizza Pie Italian Food, a new Italian restaurant that has opened in Gretna, Louisiana. The restaurant is located in the former Tony Mandina's location.
The menu features a variety of Italian dishes, including pasta, pizza, and seafood. I started my meal with the Marsala mushroom and onion in a Marsala wine sauce served over pasta. The dish was delicious, with the Marsala wine sauce providing a rich and flavorful complement to the mushrooms and onions.
For my main course, I had the Panne served with fettuccine Alfredo. The Panne was perfectly cooked, and the fettuccine Alfredo was creamy and delicious.
I finished my meal with the baked meatballs with Ricotta. The meatballs were tender and flavorful, and the ricotta cheese provided a nice contrast to the meatballs.
Overall, I had a very enjoyable experience at Venezia Pizza Pie Italian Food. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was inviting. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great Italian meal.
