-10 stars if I could. I placed an order for pick up to be ready between 5:30-5:40. I arrived at 5:40 and was told my order would be 20-25 minutes. I requested to cancel the order and the staff said they couldn’t due to it being ordered through Door Dash. (Your order online platform mind you). They said they would start making the food and after waiting 35 minutes in store, they said Door Dash showed the order cancel request. I’ve wasted a hour of my time for no food. $60 for 2 Chinese dinners never received. Find a place that actually delivers on their food in a reasonable time
**In response to the owners, you have misunderstood the initial complaint. Your restaurant had 3 tables when I walked in (2 of which already had their food). I walked in at 5:40 which was the end of my quoted window via Door Dash, and you informed me my food hadn’t even been started and it would be all of 20-25 minutes. Due to this delay, I wanted to cancel the order immediately. I placed my order ahead of time as a goal to pick up a dinner, take it to my home 15 minutes away to enjoy a good meal with my family before having to drive that evening another 2 hours. You telling me I was going to have to wait inside for another 25 minutes when I already had a long night ahead was not ideal and you had no way of assisting me to cancel my order. I simply wanted to leave and find an alternative (and now quick) option for food. I waited until 6:05 only for you to come out and say the order showed as canceled (which I told your employee I had attempted to cancel but because Door Dash said the order wouldn’t be refunded, I did not want to proceed with the cancellation and waste the $60 that had been spent) and I would not be receiving food. Our family supports local restaurants weekly. By reading your responses to other “negative” reviews, your business appears to take the approach to be snarky to anyone who comments about bland flavors or poor service. I’m sure you’ll leave another lovely remark, but nonetheless, we will not be recommending your “family” business to friends or plan to ever return. Plenty of other good local Asian cuisines in the metro. Hell, maybe I’ll even grab some of that good old chain restaurant food you...
Read moreWow! Hands down THE best place for Chinese food is back! How do I know it’s the best, you may ask? The Des Moines Metro voted for several years in a row! I’ve followed these two ever since I met them in Cedar Falls, IA about 23 years ago! When I found out 20 years ago they were opening up a restaurant in Waukee, IA; I had to let the word out to everyone I knew! As former owners of Shanghai in Waukee (y’all know who I’m talkin’ about now), Cityview’s #1 Chinese Restaurant for several years (including an honorable mention for best Vietnamese food) at last had all the respect and accolades they’d ever dreamed of! Where else to go?…But EVERYWHERE! 😂 The food really is dynamite and it’s everything everybody says it is! The Mongolian Beef and Shrimp, the Governor’s Chicken, and their soups (Egg Drop and Hot and Sour) are the best they’ve ever been! Also, I love that I can order one of whatever appetizer they have! My favorites are the wings, Vietnamese egg rolls, and Crab Rangoon! Be sure to try the spicy Nuoc Mam with the egg rolls! The prices are great for people like me on a dining budget, and they are located in the well-maintained Menard’s parking lot on Hickman Ave in Clive! Super easy to find and get to! They also do quite a bit for the community! Just recently they served lunches to all of the hungry staff members at Hoover High and Meredith Middle School! They really do know how to Rok the Wok! Give’em a try, and I guarantee you it’ll...
Read moreOrdered delivery tonight for convenience. Missing a side and part of another dish. The stuff we ordered was so spicy, even though we ordered medium on one and mild on another, it was inedible. One star is too much. Wasted over $40 on this meal and nobody got a full belly. The kids didn't eat theirs because their rice was missing. We specifically ordered a rice dish because that's what my kids will eat. My wife ordered the lowest spice level but could not eat it because it was too spicy. I like a little spice so ordered a step above the lowest level but was WAY spicer than my wife's. I would not recommend. Spring rolls were bland with overly sweet sauce. Ordered for convenience but still had to cook to feed the family and wasted money on top. Extremely...
