I came home from working midnights at the hospital and sat down, opened up my phone and saw that East End Cafe was opening this morning.
I pulled in to a busy parking lot which was a good sign for a grand opening in such a small town!
I was greeted by a woman who, I believe from the pictures posted here, was the owner. The smell of hot coffee filled the air and everything looked fresh and delicious.
I opted for a medium nonfat pumpkin spice latte and a cherry scone. My total was only $9.00 which is sometimes what I pay for a coffee alone off island.
The cherry scone was huge and delicious (starting my diet tomorrow I guess) and fresh.
The pumpkin spice latte was hot and better than my off island choices lately. The woman who took my order made sure to tell her barista that the milk for my order was non-fat so to be sure to notice that. *which to me wouldn't have been a big deal, but the attention to detail was appreciated!
My experience was finished up by the friendly barista smiling and telling me about how this latte will be a great way to start my day!
I thought I heard someone refer to the owner as "mom" and that made me smile because I know how important my family was in helping me open my small business.
All in all, CUTE! CUTE! CUTE! A big change from the Hoy Pan I served at in 1998-1999 and the decor was true to our island vibes.
Make sure to stop by and support this small business and buy local. You won't regret it and I'm sure your purchase will benefit...
Read moreFrom top to bottom, it truly does not get better than this spot. Every employee seems genuinely happy to be at work, and is overly friendly and helpful. Truly, sincerely pleasant. All of them.
The coffee drinks are unreal. I’ve yet to try a bad one. Today’s find: an iced Cinnabon latte (it’s the best cinnamon roll you’ve ever tasted, but in a cup). Mine was tweaked to be decaf, as I’m expecting. Give it a try.
The food… to me, this is where they steal the show. YES, the sandwiches are pricier than a fast food joint — but they are THE BEST you’ll ever eat, and they are MASSIVE. You can tell every ingredient is of the highest, gourmet quality, and every bite is dripping with flavor. Today’s eat: The Carson Robert. This sandwich will easily be two lunches; I’ve only pictured half of this massive sandwich.
They truly have something for everyone and every age (my one year old is a big fan of the grilled cheese!), the service is fast, and it’s the best lunch or brunch you’ll find on the island if you love a top-of-the-line sandwich, soup, salad, pastry, dessert or coffee.
