We went for lunch, they had open tables but no one was at the register when we walked in. We waited about 5 minutes until the people behind us went to find the hostess. We were then seated. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and prompt. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup. It was delicious! For lunch I ordered the shrimp and grits. It was creamy, and wonderful I ate the whole bowl. My friend had the Brutus hash and she loved it. I ate here once before and had a carryout once also. All 3 times food was good. I was missing the café de olla which is a Spanish spiced coffee drink and it was my favorite but it was removed from the menu. One big downside for me is they add the tip on the bill and it was 20%. So that to be said mostly I will not tip more when it is decided for me regardless of how i felt the service was. Otherwise, overall, it was great and I will return.

Pepper Beef Lomo Saltado was amazing and the portion size was actually quite large. The Short Rib Sandwich was also very good and the fries were cooked well. My favorite item out of the entire menu is the upside down apple pie, which is surprising because this isn't a place that specializes in making desserts. The apple pie is literally the best apple pie I ever ate in the entire USA. I think they literally make the pie with pure serotonin grown in a government lab and the chef is a literal alien 👽👾 from Mars for it to come out that good. There are people in Area 52 trying to learn the secrets of the universe, when they should be learning about this apple pie instead FOR REAL FOR REAL. There is free parking outside the restaurant.

So good, I had to eat here twice! I recently had brunch at Alma’s Kitchen and had a fantastic experience. The ribs were a standout because they were tender, smoky, and sweet, making them irresistible. I also enjoyed the breakfast quesadilla, which was hearty and flavorful, with a great balance of ingredients and vegetarian. The pulled pork sandwich was another highlight, featuring tender pork and tangy barbecue sauce on a soft bun. Finally, the chicken curry was rich and aromatic, with a perfect blend of spices that complemented the chicken beautifully. Overall, Alma’s Kitchen offers delicious dishes in a warm atmosphere. I highly recommend it!

While the food is decent the customer service here today was horrible. Our waitress leslie who we later found out was a manager took our drink order to start . But 20- 30 mins passed and no drinks. Tried to get her attention because she focused most of her time to a semi large party. When we were finally able to stop her and ask for drinks she had totally forgot she was our waitress and about our drinks. She said she would go and have them put in. No apologizes and she took off again and we had to grab another waitress to put our order in. I order two appetizers and our meals. I asked that appetizers come out first. It took about an hour to get those. Myself and my other guest were starving and no one came to check on us. We finally got a young man who we had to get ourselves to check on appetizers. Which they were put in late also. By the time I finally got my actual food it was luke warm. When I asked to speaked to the manager only to discover she was the waitress who forgot about us. She began to give excuses on having and big party to tend to and being short staffed. I explained to her that every customer big party or a table of 2 should be shown great service and not ignored. By this point both myaelf and other guest were frustrated and ready for the check. Trying to get our waitress over for the check she just ignored us and I asked one of the other waitress to get her because our treatment was so terrible. Another manager came out who also made excuses and when I asked her to remove the drinks from our bill or comp us in some way for the terrible service she said she would talk to the owner. After she spoke with him he refused to accomodate us and his excuse was because he was such a small business. My reply is knowing that he she take more pride in making sure he is adequately staffed especially on a Sunday and a holiday. And him and his managers she know wheter it's a party of 2 or 15 every customer should be treated with excellent customer service and when a customer has a complaint the manager should not have give a bunch of lame excuses. It is not acceptable!!! I am a big foody who loves to visit different restaurants and highly recommend them by social media, word of mouth and given excellent reviews. I had hoped to give a rave review and refer others. But after receiving the treatment I did today I am highly...

I dined at Alma Kitchen on Friday, November 1st, and I viewed the menu before I went and when I arrived to the restaurant. My server, Ashley, was decent and helpful. I had the Fried Ribs and she made sure that I had enough sauce, but the Ribs were old. I also had the Asian Black Pepper Shrimp, but it was very salty. Nevertheless, I suffered through my dining experience because I was in too much pain to make a fuss about the dissatisfaction of my food and I do not like sending food back to the kitchen in fear that they will spit in my food. When Ashley brought my bill, I saw that it included 20% gratuity so I crossed it out and put the amount that I wanted to pay. This lady came over in an aggressive manner and I told me that I was not allowed to cross out the gratuity that was originally indicated and I told her that I had the right to pay what I wanted to pay. She insisted that the 20% gratuity was indicated on the menu, so I asked her to show it to me, but she refused and she told me that it was already charged to my card. Once she saw that I was not budging, she refused to give me her name and she just stormed off in a hostile manner. Nevertheless, I stated my dissatisfaction of her conduct on my bill and I told them I would never return to their restaurant. I looked at the menu and the website before writing this review and it does not list that they have a mandatory 20% gratuity. For the record, I have no problem with tipping and most times I will tip more than 20% if the service is good. Alma Kitchen, can you please serve notice to your hostile employee that slavery is over and she has no right to speak to me in an unprofessional and...

I'll start by saying this was our first visit here and we were a little worried since no one greated us at the door for several minutes, so we sat ourselves down. Several minutes later the very sweet daughter of the owner came by with menus, cutlery, and took our drink orders. Came back soon and took our food order, which was then prepared and delivered promptly. We only placed 2 orders of sliders and a selection of Shrimp and Grits, but everything exceeded expectation. Prices were very reasonable and the quality excellent. Don't know how new this place is, and it's located on the outskirts of Gross Pointe in a redeveloping neighborhood on Mack, but it has a very subtle if not generally modern feel to the interior which was comfortable. We would definitely return to this location as overall it was a good experience. The only small objection i have here, as i have found in occasional other venues which i will not return to, is they automatically add 20% to the bill as a gratuity. If this was explained somewhere in the menu i didn't notice that. Not that i think the tip is not reasonable, but whenever a place decides for me, that's what they get, no exceptions. I don't think it's appropriate to add any charges to the tab including gratuities and at some places, additional credit card fees. Restaurants are the only retail venues that do this. My wife and i ran a successful retail business for 20+ years and never passed on additional costs to the customer for paying their bill. I paid cash this day so i don't know if they also add a credit use charge on top of everything. Minor details aside, i would absolutely recommend...
