Edit: Their food has been upgraded! The butter chicken wrap and the spicy crispy chicken sandwich are 10/10. I have loved Howlers & Growlers since they first opened. I love the Grosse Point area in general and they are a welcome, awesome addition. The tap list is huge and I always get to try something new when I come visit. That being said, I haven’t been too fond of the food lately. They used to have what you would expect at a taproom: bar-style, tasty, simplistic food. Now it seems like the food menu has transformed into an attempted fine dining/casual dining combo, which for me at least, is not working (my opinion is mine, of course). Pictured is my Fish and Chips. I was craving them so I was happy to get them and I ate the entire meal, but they weren’t as crunchy as I would expect them to be, and girl... they were HOT. I suppose the included “pickled Hungarian peppers” in the description should’ve been a hint, but I was still caught a bit off guard! They still tasted very good, hence me finishing them. Maybe I just haven’t been ordering the right things, I don’t know. The service is definitely still a 10/10, like it always has been. I always love the great vibes given off by the bartenders!

This place is fantastic, wonderful for children (they have coloring books, crayons, high chairs, boosters, a children’s menu). The food is v good and obv there are many beer options. Me and my husband got a stout growler, lasted a long time, and was delicious. I got the mushroom and Swiss burger and the mushrooms appeared to be fresh. We also got the cheddar and jalapeño hush puppies, they were not spicy for those afraid of jalapeño but they were v good, even the next day when cold. They were cornmeal based which added some great texture. Highly recommend.

Date night at Howlers and Growlers. What a nice gem on a great corner in Grosse Pointe Park. We shared a couple of appetizers. The bone marrow on toast and fabulous brussel sprouts. We followed that with a glorious Wagyu burger and a short rib grilled cheese sandwich. Each entree was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The drinks were amazing and plentiful. The atmosphere is comfortable and cozy. This is another destination that you could easily make your weekly spot.

Updated 02.17.22. This is the 3rd time I've written a review for this place.. First I gave it 5 stars, then knocked it down to 4 because they switched their food menu,, and now I'm going back to 5 because they switched their food menu back to what it was before.. kind of.. They now have more items to choose from but they've gone back to a more basic and relatable menu and its very, very good now. I can testify that their regular burger, the Mac & cheese, wings, fries and the crispy chicken sandwich are all great; as are the taco of the week which they switch up. I'm also looking forward to their Buffalo blue cheeseburger and their Flatbread. The service is always friendly as well.

Original review. I've been here twice and have had a great time on both occasions. They have a plentiful amount of beer to chose from and I've enjoyed their food as well. I haven't tried their burger yet, but I've seen many people order them and they look delicious. Up until 5pm you can order your food at the table. After 5pm you can walk up to the (attached) stand and order and they'll bring it out to you. The servers are friendly and will help with your beer selection if needed. I spoke to the owners wife who was really cool. All in all, a great place to relax with a few drinks and some food. Normally busy but so far haven't had to wait for a table or sit at the bar.

Just a quick note to say I have now tried the burger and it was delicious. Nothing fancy, just a burger, but I'll get it again. Especially if they keep the 5.00 price tag on Tuesday's. Happy hour prices!

I've been here plenty times since my first and second review and just wanted to give a shout out to them. Came here for carry out during the whole CV-19 - they limited their menu but the chicken wrap was soooo good (and they made it buffalo for me). It was really cool seeing these guys again (even if they were hiding behind masks). Thank you for your great beer selection, always friendly service and tasty food!

Its not often...well, this is the first time actually...that i edit my reviews for the worse, but something has really been bothering me. So I knocked my review from a 5 to a 4. On my last few visits I've noticed quite a shift in their food menu. In my opinion, not for the better and I'm really confused as to why. They used to offer really great comfort food and I had always been impressed by it. Granted, it wasn't the best ever, but it kept me coming back wanting to eat there. But after my visit yesterday and the last couple times I just don't see me ordering food any time soon. Every dish now seems to be piled on with extras that just don't belong or are completely unnecessary. Like they're trying to become a gourmet restaurant. I'm sorry but your not. I get you want to be unique but I ordered their poutine and it...well, it just wasn't. Fish and chips should just be fish and chips. They shouldn't be laying in a bed of anything and certainly not in a bowl. And I'm sorry but just the picture of their chicken and waffles made me cringe. I still love the place, the beer selection and the servers and ill still visit for all that, but not the food. I truly do not understand the direction they're going in. I feels their chefs are literally just throwing stuff together just to...

Nice enough server but brought our appetizer out with the entrees the burger was not cooked correctly the fries were cold. The server did not come back for a while to see how we were doing,(they were not really that busy) so that I could possibly get it re-cooked. I ate half of the burger and a few of the fries that were on top that were hot. The appetizer was good. The rest of my food they threw out. They did take a few dollars off of the meal. Maybe a little retraining of the staff or he was possibly new, or just having one of those days, like we all can have.... Cool place though great concept and I hope they can get it tightened up service wise. The...
