Went here with some coworkers, and I can say I was really disappointed. We were greeted by a waitress but as soon I spoke Spanish, another lady(who I’m assuming is the owner) took us to our table. Being 100% Mexican, it’s been really hard to find a place in Connecticut that wows me. This place was no different. Menu says “Authentic Mexican food” but it’s far from that. The owner brought us chips and salsa then grabbed our drink orders, but left before one of my coworkers said what he wanted to drink. The chips and salsa were bland. Chips had no salt on them. The salsa looked like it came out of a jar. Looking at the menu I didn’t really see anything that caught my attention. I ended up ordering “enchiladas verdes”, something so simple it’s almost hard to mess up. Food was bland, didn’t really have any good flavor. The cheese on top of the enchiladas was not “queso fresco”. It was more of the Kraft Mexican Style Cheese you buy at Walmart. Not once were we asked if everything was okay or if we wanted anything else to drink. 2 of us ordered dessert and asked for it to go. The owner brought it out for us to eat there and then was visibly annoyed when we told her we had asked for it to go. Now it’s time to pay and that process was the worst. We were already running late and the service was already slow. She brought us all our tickets and took the cards one by one instead of taking them all at the same time. 1 coworker gave her card and it was not returned to her immediately. The owner kept it in her pocket while attending to the only other table in the restaurant. It wasn’t until my coworker asked for it back that the owner took it out of her pocket and charged her. It’s not like it was busy. A waitress was just sitting at a table on her phone, the whole time we were there. I’m sorry to say I will not be returning. I do not...

We decided to go to Ortega’s last weekend as we have yet to find a Mexican restaurant in eastern CT that makes us want to go again. We went with high hopes and we’re very excited as I remember this place being great a few years ago. Anyway we got there and chose a spot to sit and we’re very happy with the decor. Upon further inspection the walls were covered with splattered food, made us feel instantly uncomfortable and unclean. Then they came to take our order, great service from the waiter but hey we’re obviously new. After they had taken our order our drinks and chips and salsa came. That’s when the disappointment started. The chips were blan couldn’t even taste any salt, and the salsa literally tasted like chopped tomatoes, no decent flavor to be found. When the food came it was equally lacking, I had ordered the beef chimichanga as I remembered it being this huge fried delicious concoction; What I got was a soggy mess with zero seasoning. My wife ordered the shrimp tacos and my sister in law got the steak/chicken tacos. Normally those tacos are thrown on the grill for a few seconds but they were just straight out of the bag. We asked for some salsa to try to get something going in the spice department, but what we got back was tapatio. Is this not a Mexican restaurant? Where’s the homemade salsa? I feel as if that’s a requirement for a decent Mexican restaurant. Never going back here, extremely...

From the minute we walked in, the hostess/waitress was snappy with us. She was short with us and didn't really listen to our orders. When our food came out we had to ask for plates and silverware. I ordered the fajitas with lettuce, cheese, sour cream, rice and the meats only. I didn't get the lettuce or cheese and I recieved beans and guacamole that I didn't order and didn't get the lettuce and cheese. We ordered an appetizer that had guacamole and sour cream on it. I asked on the side and they came on tip. Asked for another order and with an attitude she did it but then charged me for the guacamole that I never wanted in the 1st place and was supposed to come with the meal. It has now been 2 days since our visit and my wife and I still have a stomach ache.

Now, I understand the woman was busy but we were polite to her and didn't give her an issue. There was no reason to be that way with us. There was another family sitting next to us that had to ask 3 times for their kids lemonade.

I understand this is someone's business and I do not want to hurt a small business but at the same time, they need to know so it can be addressed and corrected. Hopefully this won't happen again to anyone else. It won't happen to us again because we will not be...

Went there on my trip to ct and extremely disappointed the place was empty at lunch time that should have been my first clue, the service was extreamly slow and barely saw our waiter. Got the nachos and the Plato grande which as shown on the picture I took was 14$ each and the nachos came out with only 7 chips, had to ask for more. As well when we went up to pay we were charged 18 and when we told them we wouldn’t have bought at that price as we were on a budget and only ordered a appetizer as we wanted to stay cheap. We were told that the menu must have been an accident and we had to pay the full price…well we should pay what was ADVERTISED as that is false advertising and for that outrageous price to get 7 chips is inane, very disappointing

Food was bland. The refried beans were some kind of bean slush and the rice was overcooke . We did takeout, when we got home, less than 5 minutes later, we opened the kids meal enchilada. The thing was genuinely inedible. It was some soggy kind of almost soup. You could see that there was what I assume was meant to be an enchilada in there but it was clearly in the process of dissolving in whatever liquid the put in the container with it. It also gave off a mild but still foul order. All around just a bad experience, I would not recommend doing take out here but if you do check your food beforehand.

Not a single spice on anything. Look at this rice & beans, find one spec of any spice or herb. Everyone saying this place is "authentic" has never had good mexican food. They put the liquid nacho cheese you can buy a gallon of at walmart for like 5 dollars on the enchiladas. The refried beans obviously came out of a can. Portions are small. Save your money, go to the grocery store & buy frozen enchiladas there. You would be eating like a king in comparison
