Let me start by saying that the entire idea that this is a "special needs training facility", is a fantastic idea and something I would donate to locally. However, I'm 58 and this is without a doubt, the worst meal I've ever had. The concept of a training facility for special needs is completely lost if the food is horrible. I went the Tues Dec 12th at approximately 10am. No other customers inside. We were greeted and sat immediately. As we were being handed our menus another person asked us to take our order. We politely said we haven't looked at our menus yet, please give us a moment. This went on for quite some time. We excused it as it was no big deal. When we did order, it had to be by the numbers only, and I get it. However any variation was an issue. When I reached for the menu to show him what I was talking about, he stepped back and said, NO, Listen to me! It was just a bit challenging. Again, I was fine as I understand. The wait for the food was 35 minutes and I was offered refills on my coffee etc. Also, the views are spectacular, so the wait was ok. I ordered bacon, eggs, toast, and home fries. Also a side of 2 French toast. My wife ordered a breakfast wrap. The food arrived and I ate a home fry first. That was it. I thought I was going to be sick. I can honestly say it did not resemble or taste like a home fry. It was horrible and my stomach began to turn. I ended up forcing down the toast, bacon, some of the eggs and half the French toast. Eggs were fine, toast was fantastic. French toast not so good. My wife took 1 bite and was done. She could not eat it and was disgusted. The potatoes were in her wrap as well, and it was drenched in something making it completely soggy. Now, here's the problem. Humans are kind and compassionate for the most part. So they usually won't criticize due to the very nature of this facility. So, what are you going to do in this situation? My wife asked for a to-go box which is exactly what I mean. Someone there has to read this review, maybe pay attention to what food is being left behind or at the very least sample what you are serving. I'm my case, if the cook would have tried it, he/she would have never served it! The majority of the population want to see a program like this be successful! It will never be when the product is bad. It's worth noting only 1 other party sat down just as we were leaving. The bill was 29.41 plus a tip which I believe goes to a donation. Come on guys, read this and fix the situation. I want your program to work. But you can't expect people to be polite and go eat in support of this when the food was just awful. There were no patrons in there until we left and it was still during breakfast hours. Please,...
Read moreI don’t know who thought it would be a good idea to have unsupervised Down syndrome patients running the floor. My food order was wrong twice. My girlfriend’s drink order was wrong twice and when we corrected the waitress she argued with my girlfriend claiming she said the wrong thing. When the correct drink was brought out the waitress proceeded to place it on the silverware which would have caused it to spill hot chocolate over my girlfriend but she was quick enough to save it. The food was also terrible. I’ve seen reviews be made over the past several years and nothing seems to have changed. The wrap which I had to confirm I wanted several times came with out the wrap portion and then when it came back as a wrap the potatoes were in the wrap which they weren’t supposed to be. On top of that the potatoes were burnt to a crisp. I think the whole establishment heard the sound of the charred home fry hitting the plate. Like most people who come here. We love the idea of inclusion but no matter the cause you need competence to work in service and these servers don’t seem to have enough control to be in charge. Hopefully someone will see this and attempt to make a change. THERE NEEDS TO BE...
Read moreThis restaurant is a delight. I have had a lot of pancakes in this area and I can definitely say these get my seal of approval! They are more cakey and less eggy. I thought the home fries were a bit over seasoned though. The one thing you do have to remember is that the waitstaff is special needs, and are not going to have all the same queues that neurotypical waitstaff will have. For example, I had to go in and ask for a to-go box and the check, and I was almost given someone else's order. The understanding the patrons had created an extremely friendly atmosphere, and I even got to talk to other patrons while I was waiting for my food. If the weather is nice and you have a chance, I would recommend sitting on the deck. You get a view of the water and the boats passing by, and if you're lucky, you might get to see a submarine! I will definitely be...
