Nestled between Phoenix and Tempe, the town of Guadalupe boasts some wonderful little gems. We stopped by Loreto's and were very pleased with the quick, efficient service, cleanliness and tasty Mexican food.
Btw, they cook with vegetable oil - no lard!:
I ordered the steak (carne asada) torta. It wasn't the best I've had (I'm counting in Mexico too) but it was decent. The buttered bun was probably the best part.
The chips we're good and the salsa mild.
My husband really liked the carne asada burrito and rice and beans.
The burger ordered for the kids was really plain. No lettuce, tomatoes, onions. But it was large and came with fries and a small drink.
The interior and exterior is simple. There's a menu outside along with seating and an order window. The bathroom was well maintained and clean. The customer service was fast and efficient.
We hope to return to try something new.
Update September 2019:
We went back and had more delicious food. And I have to say they have some really nice workers. They were all so helpful and kind! I didn't even have to ask to sample the aguas frescas, they read my mind and offered. Very good service.
My only suggestions that I think would make this place even better? Make the aguas frescas yourselves, and switch out the styrofoam plates for reusable ones.
The food is hot and delicious and serving it on a cheap plate is such an insult to the food and cooks. Actual plates (melamine is durable!) Would feel so much more satisfying....
Read moreThis place is a great to-go for decent mexican food in quality and quantity for the price! It's a very small dining area with outdoor seating as well. Service is quick and friendly (we were there when it was empty but it was late lunch hour on a Sunday although more diners trickled in). Ordered two drinks, fountain and Coca-Cola bottle from Mexico with real sugar! I got the chimichanga combo plate that came with guac, sour cream, and rice & beans for $10.50 (pretty good for that price!) Husband got the enchilada and taco combo that came with rice and beans for $10 and ordered an extra taco and he really liked it especially for how much we normally pay at other places (about double). Both combos came with chips and dalsa. Also ordered a side of fries on impulse and they weren't bad but probably wouldn't order again because it's just too much food. We love Sonoran style mexican food, which this is, and we typically eat at Casa Reynoso or Aunt Chilauda's or Garcias but honestly when we order the same combos for lunch and pay $60 after tip we came here and honestly question why it's worth it. The quality doesn't hit as much and it's a little bit less but if you can relate please try this place. When it was all said and done, I think our bill was $32 and you can't go many places and pay that for two people anymore. Will...
Read moreThis restaurant used to be a very good restaurant. Great service and delicious food. They're known for their Loreto burgers which comes with a roasted jalapeño and use to come along with really good service. Sometime ago I stopped going because of how sloppy their food prep was getting and a few rude encounters with potentially, the owner if not the manager. I gave them another try after a few months have passed and the service still remained the same; rude treatment. So I just don't even go to the restaurant anymore. Someone that I knew recently had a bad experience with them regarding their food, as far as the service they got I'm not sure on that, but that someone that I know told me that they got some Burgers recently and they served them raw or bad meat, following a few hours this person got sick to their stomach, literally speaking. I'm not the type of person to post these reviews. Restaurant owners/managers have a lot on their plate which could affect how they run business, but serving food of bad quality will affect someones health, that's where things need to be looked at. And this wasn't the first person I've heard this from. Lots of people that I know stopped going to Loretos because of the recent...
