Atmosphere is really the only thing this place has going for it. Granted my experience could be a one-off.
The whole place is packed in vintage stuff and has a rustic industrial vibe to it, pretty cool and I can appreciate the history behind it.
Now to my food. I ordered the Kimchi Porkbelly fries because they sounded delicious (spoiler alert: I never ended up finding out if they were or not). They gave me a pager for my order. After about 30minutes I decided to check to see if my order was close to being done, no dice. 45minutes rolls around and I'm really concerned at this point becuase I've seen people who've come in after me get their food (one set of Kimchi Porkbelly fries ontop of that). I decided to go up and ask the girl running the counter and get met with a dismissive "We're waiting on your fries". So I sit back down and proceed to wait another 15 more minutes to roll by (1hour total), at this point another worker comes up and offers a very disdainful apology about how they're wating on my fries (even though I saw the same fries go out the window to a customer who ordered 20minutes after me), and proceed to tell me they gave me some extras to make up for it... cool, I just want the food I ordered. I wait a little longer and my food finally comes out, but low and behold, it's not the Kimchi Pork Belly fries I ordered, pretty sure it was the bulgogi fries and they weren't all that great.
Needless to say, I left pretty unsatisfied after spending $20ish and wasting an hour of my Saturday. I'll end up going back at some point just so I can try these fries but my first experience...
Read moreOrdered dine in as I had thought that the museum would be big enough for me to tour while waiting for coffee. It was certainly not as every section was a sitting area. The place looked nice but the atmosphere was quickly ruined by children screaming in every corner of the place and grown adults yelling to one another just across a table. Waited for over 50 minutes for two coffee and food. The food I was told would take roughly an hour because the cooks were backed up with orders. Alright cool but 50 minutes for two coffees?!! After asking about why I had never gotten my coffees I was informed it would take only TWO MINUTES to make the drinks I had requested almost an hour prior. I was also told it would take at least another half hour for my food to be cooked. Myself and three other customers who were also asking about their food requested refunds and left. I’d love to recommend the coffees that I DID get but the cold brew was small for the price I paid and they had no creamer or flavors to put into the drink. The espresso affogato (ice cream with espresso poured over it) WOULD have been the highlight of the store just the small issue that the cup was filled to the absolute brim with coffee and ice cream so EVERY SINGLE attempt to scoop out even the smallest bit of Ice cream resulted in the expresso shooting all over me. Even after drinking almost all the espresso it still made a huge mess shooting all over my shirt pants both hands and my feet. They should be using a bigger cup or...
Read moreUpdate: weeks later, I can say that the coffee is delicious. The service still is a mismatch. Praying that they work it out.
The best thing about this place is the layout and decor. It's 3 levels and lots of seating. Not so much for parking though.
For food and drinks, I can say that the meals are mediocre like almost every meal in Guam. I would be able to comment on their coffee if there had not been a 30-50 minute wait on just to go drinks. This was after I was told I couldn't order for 30-40 minutes on a Sunday mid-afternoon. There's also only one cashier so the line wraps around and the drive thru isn't operational.
Perhaps management (I worked in food service before and am a director now) should consider closing the kitchen from 2pm-5pm so staff can catch up? There's no reason to wait, MAYBE, more than 15 mins for a drink if a place is busy. Waiting anymore than that to just order will kill the business.
It's an operational design issue, not a staff one. Honestly, I could see this place even becoming a really nice rental venue if it can't keep up with the food/drink service demands.
Great idea but I'm hoping the execution will improve to meet the obvious demand. Good luck to this place in its first year. Maybe next time I make the trek once again down to Asan then I can actually...
