We were craving some good catfish and saw this place had over 4 stars so we figured it was a good bet. When we walked in, we just stood there at the front waiting to be seated as there was not a “seat yourself” sign. FINALLY, a girl who really seemed like she wanted to be anywhere else looked at us and said “you can find somewhere to sit”…we were a party of six and almost every table was filthy and needed to be bussed. I asked if it was ok if we put two tables together and she said “whatever”. After an extremely long wait, we finally were given our drinks(which were the only ones we’d receive for the rest of our 1.5+ hour visit as we never got a refill). When we ordered our food the waitress said “try again” when I ordered the crab cake and catfish combo. Granted, I appreciate her honesty as she disclosed that the crab cake was an awful selection and I’d regret it. I wish she’d been as forthcoming about the “catfish” as well. Whatever we were served was a pinkish purplish meat disguised as catfish. I took one bite as did my wife and we were done. Which was fine considering we didn’t have anything to drink anyways. It wasn’t just “not good”… it was disgusting. It was so bad I didn’t even want to talk about getting the check adjusted. I just wanted us to get the heck out of there. We were there over an hour and a half and left 5 minutes after our meal arrived Bc it was so bad. Worst money I’d ever spent. Absolutely awful service and awful food. I can’t believe this place has any good reviews. I seriously think this might be the first time I’ve ever even felt compelled to leave a review, it...
Read moreThis was our 4th time eating here. Which tells you we like it. But once we had terrible service. Another our food was just so-so. As usual we were welcomed as we entered and allowed to sit wherever we chose. There is a tv on but the volume was down. Which is great because we would rather hear ourselves and other people than the television. The place looks a bit old but normally clean. We arrived, as usual, on a Friday after 5pm. The place was semi busy. I ordered a fish and shrimp dinner with baked potato and side salad. The second order is always the same. It was for crawfish etouffee. He really likes it. But it used to come in a large bowl. Now it is served in a medium sized bowl. It used to come with bread. Now it did not. We had a very nice, friendly waiter. Our food took a bit longer this time. My salad was nice size, looked and tasted fresh. Then came the entrees. They came hot. My fish/ red fish was huge and DELICIOUS as were the big fried shrimp! The baked potato was baked just right. Once in the past it was burnt on the entire bottom. So thumbs up tonight. His etouffee came in the medium bowl, no bread. But he said it was good and thicker unlike two visits past where it was more soupy broth like. It is still difficult to get a waiters attention. Especially if you don't see your server and try to wave down one passing by your booth. They literally just ignore you. So service still only gets 4 stars. We like it here. I am a picky seafood patron from Louisiana. Seafood has to be just so to keep coming back. So generally the food is good. We have recommended...
Read moreUpdated review: Things are getting better from original review below but I still notice things are not made fresh to order. The food does not arrive fresh fried at the table with the crisp batter taste. It appears the food is fried and waiting to be plated for the order. Had the fried shrimp and fish yesterday and the fish fried batter was not crisp at all, more on the sogggy side, definitely not fresh fried. The shrimp was a little better not sitting as long and still hot but missimg the crisp batter taste. Our mushroom appetizer had the same soggy batter even the though taste was pretty good. The best thing we had was the blackened scallops those had amazing taste and were made fresh to the order. Definately will try more grilled blackened food.
Original review: First time trying, Nice friendly people but the sea food is not great quality. Tried several things today and I would not return for any of it. Poor frying batter does not lend great taste to the food, Crab cakes or fried mushrooms. May not have been fresh made or served. Calamari was best of all but it was plain fried not much flavor. Dinner was grilled lobster and it was plain, no flavor and over done. Wife had stuffed crab and again a major miss, not tasty and frying is a problem. Sorry to be so critical but it needs to be said. I ate at Hectors Mexican restaurant the day before and their grilled blackened shrimp was amazing compared to this, it was well seasoned, fresh made and plenty of flavor. Try it...
