Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen — Restaurant in Gurley

I don't understand how when a customer orders mild chicken does the staff take that to mean they only want the two wings in the box meal to be mild and placed in a separate box and the rest of it to be spicy. That is the stupidest thing I have ever contemplated but it's what happened just now at this location to my family and I. My career is in the food service industry (quarter of a century's worth now) and I honestly feel like the staff at this location was unable to keep up with the orders for mild chicken so rather than provide the customer with what they had PAID FOR they just threw in what they had on hand and said screw the customer especially since it was a take out order.

WE CANNOT EAT HEAVILY SPICED FOODS AND THAT IS WHY MY HUSBAND ASKED FOR MILD CHICKEN. Why did we not get that for our order??? I'm sitting here at my home 20 miles away without Popeye's for dinner, something I haven't had in over a decade because the quality of the locations in Huntsville city are absolutely disgusting! Horrifyingly disgusting. Now I see that this location is following suit.

This all comes after we asked for a menu listed special which I have enclosed a picture of. We were told that that we could not have that offer. We then ordered a 10 piece meal which they only sent us home with 8 pieces having taken the two breasts out of our meal. We paid almost $24 for this location to just rip us right off for it. This is not how you treat your paying customers at all.

The chicken was overcooked and black to the point the skin under the breading was more dried out than chicken jerky ever could be. The macaroni and cheese was just disgusting and not even remotely warm which I don't expect it to be piping hot after a 20 mile drive down the road but still, no warmth at all?? Fried chicken does not have to be obliterated to be cooked fully and there is such a thing as a bio-therm. This is a restaurant. You should have one and you should use it.

The level of incompetence of this location is glaringly obvious in the extremely poor service my family received today. My husband passes by this location 5 nights a week but we will not be spending our hard earned money here ever again. I will be spreading the word to my community to avoid this location, that it's not worth the time or the money especially if the staff is going to perform this poorly.

EDIT: The recent Health Food Score of 77 goes to support the negatives comments that this location is receiving in the reviews. They were using dishes that had SAT ON THE FLOOR to cook your food with!! They were not washing their hands properly nor were they changing their gloves properly either. Absolutely disgusting practices and it just goes to show the type of management this location has which is...

Let me start by saying that I have previously left google recommendations praising this store. I live in Scottsboro and drove to the store in Gurley because the food and customer treatment had been untouchable! I have always praised the Gurley Popeyes. Today that changes. I placed my order as normal. It was busy but not so busy that cars were lines around the restaurant. I expected a short wait and had no problem parking. I ordered and 8 piece, regular red beans and rice, and 2 apple pies. Standard stuff. My receipt is stamped at 4:59 pm. Around 5:15 a gentleman brings my food out to my car. It was right at 20 minutes. No biggie. But I decided to double check my order as I live over 25 minutes away. I was missing an apple pie. I didn’t think it was a big deal so I got my receipt and took my order back inside the store, expecting them to give me the pie and me be on my way. When the cashier asked what I needed, the manager saw me and without anyone telling him, he said they didn’t have any pies and it would be 5 minutes. Which means he knew they did not give me my pie. This made me mad. They knew they handed me my order incorrectly so basically was expecting me to pay for a product they never intended on me having. I asked for a refund for the pie as I had been there 25 minutes. He said he needed my debit card so I had to go back outside to get it then go back inside to get the refund. Even the cashier stated that it was wrong. They knew what they did. There are no excuses. I gave him my debit card which he carried around him while he filled other drive thru orders. It appeared he had to do the refund from the cash register that took my order. I understand. I ended up getting a refund but not sure how much. Only asked for the pie refunded but receipt shows entire amount refunded. I will check my bank account when it shows up. 0 customer service or customer respect from this manager. It’s my last visit to Popeyes. Disappointed.

I have given this popeyes so many chanced because I have no choice because the garbage economy forced me to live 20 mins away from any activity because the housing market is too inflated to afford anything in the city.

But I am done. 4-5 times they have been closed during operational hours. IF I do get lucky and get my food I had to wait in car line 20 minutes to get it.

This time they threw me a curve ball, they hit me again with a 20 minute wait even though they had 4-5 cars parked with no customers in the lobby and I saw 4 "working". So I did my new age "American fast food" wait time that seems to have become the normal in our country. I ordered the 1/4 popcorn shrimp MEAL and they gave me a box with 2 pieces of chicken and maybe 10 popcorn shrimps...and your wondering why I capitalized "MEAL"... No biscuit...

And before you say "why didn't you take it back" well I was already home 20 mins down the road and just got off a 12 hour shift expecting fast food to save my dinner sustenance requirements. So didn't want to do another 40 mins of driving there and back...

This Popeyes is officially dead to me. I will just have to eat Ramen like old times cause there is nothing else apparently. Can't do Burger...
