Cafe Del Sol — Restaurant in Hagerstown

The worst food in the Hagerstown area. Service was abysmal as well. When we arrived, we requested to eat our appetizers in the restaurant while we waited for our entrees to be prepared. This request seemed to cause the host to become very confused. We were only given one set of silverware and a one menu for a party of two (one toddler). We had another adult join us after we were seated and no additional menu or silverware was brought out so we had to get ourselves. As for a he cuisine, the crab nachos were not worthy of a photo given it was chips smothered in dressing and red onion with a ripped up crab cake (99% filler) thrown about. We actually had trouble determining if they in fact had crab at all. The food was hit or miss -either over cooked or undercooked fries (we had two orders). Our plates and menus sat on the table for the duration of our visit allowing little room for our entrée’s. The crab cake salad, as seen in the photos, had the same disappointing crab cake that was served with the nachos.

Upon getting our check, we noticed several meals did not match the menu prices by several dollars. The staff informed us the prices should only have about a 50 cent increase compared to the printed amount. Even more frustrating was that this information was not shared until after they charged our cards. When we presented the discrepancy, the waitress offered to cover the funds herself to resolve the discrepancy. We declined her offer and would never take money from a staff member for issues the restaurant is responsible for.

Had we had more time during our visit, we would have asked to speak with management (this was not offered by our waitress).

The location can easily accommodate a large party up to 30-35 people at 1 long table if you understand simple math. I spoke to the manager several times confirming we will have a confirmed party of 20 coming on a specific date. Knowing the food and the owner David personally decided to have a girls party here. We came over and our table was occupied with the explanation of this party came before you, that's with multiple other tables possibly taking that party and Knowing we were supposed to be seated there. Was super unpleasant as we wanted to be next to each other as all ladies traveling from 3 different states. The salad leaves were not fresh somehow but the waitress did try to accommodate us , but certainly hard when you have 24 people in different locations. I chose the location specifically because to bring business to a local small business and not some chain restaurant. I asked several times to place us next to each other. Very sad because I won't be coming back to this specific Cafe del Sol due to not accommodating a simple request on a Sunday afternoon Knowing 2 months in advance...

i would give less then 1 if possible. i am a pretty regular customer to del sol and were happy to see they offered endless tacos. Tuesday we ate at the hagerstown location. my wife, my 2 year old and 4 year old and myself dined in. when we attempted to order the endless tacos the waitress refused our order because she said everyone at the table had to order the tacos. she also informed us that only 2 of the offered 6 styles were available both of which my 2 and 4 year old would not eat. not to mention I'm a little cautious about feeding hard taco shells to my children. after a few back and forths with the extremely rude and unapologetic waitress we ordered. my wife and I both ordered the crab cake on a salad. after approximately 35 minutes our food arrived and things turned worse. the crabcakes smelled like rotting fish and we could barely eat. we never got drink refills and when the check came she suddenly wanted to be friendly! fast forward to the next day, my wife and are sick!
