I'm a big fan of old school traditional diners. I randomly stumbled upon the Snydersville Diner while traveling through the Poconos. Upon walking in, it was clear that this was a traditional old diner much like the one my grandmother worked in many years ago. It's nothing fancy. There's plenty of chrome all around. It looks like it hasn't changed one bit in the decades it's been open, yet it is clean and tidy.
The food is simple but delicious. There's nothing fancy; just your standard diner fare. Everything was hot, fresh and made exactly as it should be. Diner's are about comfort food and that what you find here.
The waitresses are your classic diner waitresses. They are friendly and more than happy to suggest the best items on the menu yet just gruff enough so you know that you probably don't want to mess with them. The only odd thing is that the waitresses wear what appears to be a uniform you'd find on an employee in a doctor's office. It's not a bad thing, just odd.
One of the things that our waitress provided a suggestion on was dessert. Snydersville Diner is apparently well known for baking a huge variety of pies. Since we were there in the Fall, I chose a slice of pumpkin pie. The waitress told me that she suggested that I order a slice of pumpkin cream pie instead. She was right, it was delicious. Though I suspect that it would be very hard to find a pie on their menu that isn't delicious!
Whether you want a delicious fresh cooked meal, yummy pie or just a step into the past, this diner is...
Read moreIf you like food without much taste go here!! Really the only reason I went here was because I heard there was a new cook. 3 of us went in and for the three of us it cost 40$ to eat. The potions was not worth no 40$
One person had a burger, the burger was meh, was no 1/2 burger it was a 1/4 lbs burger for 6$ way to much for that, anywhere else you can get much more for that price or a few dollar more.
Other had Grilled Porkchops that I had a bite of... It really did not look grilled, looked like it was boiled then placed on a grill to darken two spots. It did not taste great or really taste like anything, I am not 100% sure how you remove flavor from porkchop but they did that.
I had the Teriaki Steak, it was ok had flavor compare to the porkchop. I really do think it was the sauce more then the meat as I do not remember the taste of beef just the sauce.
The House Dressing was crap, the waitress recommended it to us and said it was great, she was wrong, very wrong. The mash potato we had was meh as well, The Brown Sauce was ok... Just not something or enough for the potato... Sad day when KFC would f been a better choice then the dinner.
Service was ok fast at least tho not many people around so should not be long potions was ok not great so over all, that is 1 star. The food was not worth it, if you see this place just go elsewhere, you better off not more then 10 mins away is better food in any direction. This place is for older people or people without any...
Read moreOur first experience there was not very pleasant. Two of us sat at the counter for at least 10 minutes before a waitress even acknowledged our presence and then our breakfast took at least 25 minutes to come out of the kitchen. As other reviewers stated, the home fries could’ve been cooked a little longer but overall I considered the food average and I thought the prices were average too. Many reviews said the service was fast and efficient, neither of which we saw by any means. Maybe it was an off day for the staff but for a diner that’s been around as long as they say it has I would think Sunday morning breakfast would be pretty simple and mastered after all these years in business. We parked in the smaller parking lot and upon leaving we drove past the larger/main parking lot and I couldn’t help but notice the relatively large parking lot that was only about half full. I questioned how much poorer the service could’ve been if the parking lot was totally full. Their pie selection did look amazing and homemade but we didn’t have any. I’m a one chance kind of guy with restaurants and doubt I’d...
