Glad they are open again! Before the fire, the weekdays were the best and the food on the weekend was quite bad (overly salty, etc.)
My recent experience was after they re-opened on a Wednesday (that was usually okay before the fire). looks great inside! connected to the bar now (though that section was closed, you could still get drinks.) staff was pretty quick, though my friends told me that a couple of hours earlier during the rush their drinks were brought near the end of their meal... they attributed this delay to new staff and the lunch rush.
food (fiesta burrito).... well it was similar to eating on the weekends before the fire. Good: the chips, the salsa, the shredded beef (nice beefy flavor). the sour cream. Bad: The cheese on the burrito was gritty like they used a pre-shredded cheese with anti-caking agents in it. Guacamole was tasty for the first little taste, then I hit a wad of salt... it was enough for everything on my plate twice over. luckily the red sauce was watery like dish water and tasted bland... so it thinned out the salt. mostly bland burrito (the sour cream added all the flavor along with the salty guacamole). While the shredded beef had a nice flavor, it was over powered by the blandness of the rest of the burtito and was lost unless you only took a bite of the beef.
the new menus for lunch had higher prices and you will not get out of there for $10 or less. new menus also do not have drink prices, or even what they offer. It seems that frustrates the wait staff a bit, as they seemed put out to tell me what I could choose from. the lack of drink pricing was also frustrating when I saw a fountain soda over ice was $2.69 for lunch. Just not worth it to me to add a soda. Though the bar was closed they were serving drinks from it, that would have been a better choice for $3.
Will I eat here again? Yes, because I know how good it can be and I look forward to them getting back to that level, so I will try again a couple more times.
Yes, I told them about the food quality issues when I paid my bill (except the gritty cheese, I think I forgot that one in the moment), so this review will not be a surprise to anyone, and so they are able to make corrections to get back up to their quality they used to have for my mid week lunch. Always politely let an establishment know there was an issue, or they will not be able to fix it... and remember they are almost always doing their best with an eye to making it even better.
UPDATE (up to 4 stars): Getting better again. Still have not figured out which days are the best to go, but have not had anymore gritty cheese. Overall the food has gotten back to where it was before the fire. Still some salty food at times, but nothing like it was before the fire or the first time after. It seems they had a staff shortage, and are getting that...
Read moreCame for the raspberry Margherita and food on Mother’s Day. Have been here before and everything was amazing. NOT today, ordered the raspberry marg and nachos. The drinks came out after the food. The raspberry Margherita was warm, not like it had sat but like it was made with warmed product. It had ice in it too. Couldn’t drink mine. My daughters came out the same way. My nachos that were supposed to have refried beans and ground beef had maybe a tablespoon of beans. At least a half cup of sour cream, enough that I shared with the others in my party. And so much melted cheese I twirled it on a fork like noodles. I could not eat them. The chips were not fresh as advertised. My daughter’s plate was supposed to have guacamole and others ordered sides of it. Only to be told after their meals came out that they had run out. It was 3 in the afternoon and hardly a full restaurant on Mother’s Day. I can go on but why? The bill was over $90, but most of the food and drinks were left behind. The waitress wasn’t in a good mood. And was oblivious to the fact that no one at the table ate or drank much or that water cups needed refilled even though she walked around with a water pitcher and filled cups for 1 of the 4 tables seated with people. We were told by her that she was bartending, waitressing, and taking orders. Help is hard to find these days but there was no excuse for any of this today. I hope this is a one off for you today because you will lose customers quicker than you can bring them in with issues such as these. What a waste of...
Read moreI don't know what happened when they reopened, but the food was so bland- literally had no taste. My shell was completely burned. Pretty lame customer service. They were overwhelmed with the number of customers I think that night. She took away a full plate of food from me, all I had eaten was the beans. She did not ask what was wrong with my meal or anything... I used to go there often. And the food had been excellent every single time. The service was been hit-or-miss. But this time, since reopening, the food was an actual disaster. I think I mostly offended that nobody cared to ask how it was, after she took away and full plate of food and threw it away. Feel like the service could be improved over time, once staff gets back into their usual routine, but if they cook the way they cooked the night I ate there since reopening, they're going to lose a lot of business. Not giving a care as to how the customer enjoyed their experience or meal, is a guarantee you'll lose customers. Wish I had my fifty bucks back. Margarita,...
