I'm all for giving praise where it's due, but let's not mince words here: my recent visit here was a letdown. The PIZZA IS Awful and not consistent! As a repeat customer, I expected the pizza that we had the last time we were there, but that was not going to happen! Instead, I was served a heavy, greasy mess that was more cheese than pizza. The cheese was so thick, it made it impossible to pick up and it was in clumps, as well as puddling in grease, not to mention the crust that in the middle was way undercooked. And the cheese was not stringy it was GOBS. Yes, we told the server. The server, while efficient, missed the mark when we pointed out the issue. Her response? "It's always this cheesy." We even asked if she misunderstood us and ordered doubled cheese, the answer was 'No'! Nope, not buying it. We've eaten here before, and it's never been a cheese overload like this. The Cheese was coming off in clumps almost like it was gnocchi and definitely not digestible. To make matters worse, the pizza was undercooked and doughy, from the center to 1/2 way on the pizza, which is a far cry from their usual standard. ******The real kicker? Watching the next table receive the perfect pizza we used to love. It was like night and day – their pizza was cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of cheese. They were able to serve it without the mess of cheese glopping everywhere and without the grease. What we got? A cheesy disaster, unrecognizable from what we ordered. We were not after free, just a pizza like we ordered. Offering dessert doesn't cut it when the main pizza is a flop. How do you make that right? *** From the minute we mentioned it without trying to get the server frazzled (again not looking for free just EDIBLE Pizza) she could have just taken it back and replaced the last other cuts with a small pizza to go. The server knew our pizza was wrong, plain and simple. She was not sure how to handle it, and she should have had a manager help her through this mess. It's not about a freebie; it's about getting what you paid for from the start, not leaving half a pizza (And gobs of the cheese that was on it behind on plates) because it was awful and it was, we never eat just half we've go for the pizza to eat the pizza, but NOT today!!! This issue of inconsistency isn't just disappointing; it's a serious letdown for a place that's supposed to be a staple in the Pittsburgh pizza scene. It seems we're not alone in noticing this – similar complaints are evident (in reviews), which raises a red flag about your commitment to consistent quality and management. Completely unacceptable and unfair to your staff who no doubt will suffer from other patrons that want GOOD Pizza, that doesn't go squish or wilt over from so much cheese! Won't be back for ALL the reasons shared!

This was my first time at the new one in Allison Park. We got a whole pepperoni that wasn't bad wasn't great. Hopefully sitting here the Bar happy hour was good it seemed like a great Vibes type of place. The pizza reminded me of a Fiori's wannabe. The dough is sort of bland had too much flour on it the sauce wasn't bad and there was a lot of cheese but the pepperoni is really bad. If I were you I would go with Ezzo. The service was pretty good also. With that said we'll probably go back to try something else. We did go to the one in Squirrel Hill before this 1st time at NP location. Then we ordered slices of pepperoni thin crust, and it was garbage and tasted like frozen pizza dough and no flavor. We said we would never go back, but the NP opened. We then wanted to give it another chance and went to NP. 1st time is above, but 2nd time we tried chicken parmesan and a meatball and was not bad. Big portions, but the problem was the chicken was frozen and not pounded flat/flatter, in order to cook evenly, ending in a dry tip and rubbery texture. Meatball was good though. So we went again to try the steak Sandwich and was not great, but just a normal roast beef and bland and a lot of bread with "AU Jus" that was flavorless. Had the Sicilian and that was a much better pizza than the other. White pizza was bland as well. Although you responded after sooo long, it is not how much longer you were open over someone else, like Fiori's, but the quality of the food and how has it changed for the better or worse! May be back to see if it has changed...and will post again when we do.

A Slice of Heaven at Mineo’s in Allison Park If you’re on the hunt for classic Italian comfort food with a local twist, look no further than Mineo’s in Allison Park. This cozy family-owned pizzeria has built a loyal following for good reason – the food here speaks for itself. Pizza: The heart of Mineo’s is their pizza, and it does not disappoint. The crust, made from scratch daily, is perfectly crispy with just the right amount of chewiness. The toppings are generous without overwhelming the pizza, and the flavors meld together beautifully. Their CALZONES are a MUST! They are as huge as Gio’s personality! Pasta: For those seeking a hearty meal, the pasta is equally impressive. Their chicken parm with spaghetti with marinara sauce is a simple yet delicious dish, bursting with fresh tomato flavor. You can’t go wrong with their classic meatballs, which are tender, juicy, and packed with flavor but you must add a side of ricotta for the perfect combination. Ambience & Service: The vibe is warm and welcoming, with an old-school pizzeria charm that invites you to sit back, relax, and savor every bite. The staff is friendly and attentive and you can find their family working almost every day. The sunroom is so pretty when the snow is falling and the fireplace room Is so perfect. Overall: Mineo’s in Allison Park is a true gem for anyone craving authentic Italian cuisine. Whether you’re after a perfect pizza or comforting pasta, every dish feels like a taste of Italy. Highly recommend it to anyone in the area!

NOTE: this review is for the Allison Park Mineos. I have not been to the Squirrel Hill location, which I can only hope is better than this, especially since the name has such recognition and good reputation.

I had one disappointing visit to Mineos last year. A second visit confirms it. This restaurant is just barely okay. I will NOT be back.

You go to a place for food, drink and atmosphere. Mineos strikes out on all three.

The beer selection is limited at best, largely cheap mainstream junk, with a few crafts at most. The beer was cold, so that's positive?

The atmosphere is poor. You know how a nice bar will have a nice natural low-light atmosphere - and then when it is closing time, they'll turn on all the bright overhead lights? Mineos keeps it bright like that all the time. It ruins any vibe and makes it feel like you're sitting in a Waffle House.

The service is consistently illogical. Three people order meals and one appetizer for the table. One guy's meal comes out first. Then 5 minutes later the appetizer comes out. Then 10 minutes later another meal. 3rd guy waits longer. Nobody gets to eat at the same time, and there seems to be no comprehension by the kitchen nor the staff how a group of people might care to dine together.

Oh, and the food. PLEASE tell me the original highly regarded Mineos doesn't serve this food or I've lost all faith in Pittsburghers' tastes.

The pizza is just not that great. Note to restaurant: A huge amount cheese does not make up for bland dough, overly herbed jarred sauce and for the taste of the cheese itself. This pizza is about as good as what you'd get at an amusement park.

The appetizer Provolone Wedge that we had was seriously terrible. Bland cheese in a way overcooked breaded shell. Like over-fried to being black. Luckily they took the time to sprinkle some herbs on the burned crust!

And the Italian Hoagie. VERY light on the meat, which was low grade fatty lunch meat anyway, so maybe I should count my blessings. I'm still not sure what odd taste accompanied the hoagie either. Something in the lettuce, tomoatos or the Italian dressing? The bland generic bun didn't help.

Oh and what the hell, I'll mention that I swear they might have watered down the ranch dressing that came with the french fries. (The french fries were decent I must say, so if you like just french fries and cold Budweiser in what feels like the Costco dining area, then by all means this is the place for you.)

But seriously, if Mineos of Squirrel Hill is allowing their name to be associated with this place, then...
