So far the best place I have had pasties in the UP. We got to the place during open hours but the sign on the window said pasties sold out. So, we were sitting in the parking lot trying to figure out our next move. Next thing we know the owner comes out of the store and asks if we were wanting pasties, which we said yes. He then told us he had fresh ones coming out of the oven in about 20 minutes if we wanted to hold some. We ended up coming back and getting 5 of the large traditional. Oh my, the flavors were spot on, you can instantly tell they are homemade. For the four of us we could have gotten 3 and been totally fine. We took 2 back to our campsite to eat that night. While we were there, we chatted with the owner for several minutes. Super nice guy and a true family man. Price was 7.50 for a large pasties which was a great deal considering how big they were and how filling. We also ordered a bran muffin and molasses cookie, both were excellent. We will be grabbing several to bring home with us to Minnesota for the rest of the family to enjoy. Will be back here again next time we...

I have been visiting the UP for 8-9 years and always get a pasty because it’s the thing to do. I sometimes wonder why people like these dried out, bland tasting meat & canned veggies that are shoved into a pie crust! I decided to try somewhere new and my bf spotted Amy Js while we were on our way to a different place with excellent reviews. We ordered one large pasty and two farmers cookies. With out high hopes my boyfriend cut it in half and I immediately noticed the difference! It looked fresh! Real potatoes, real carrots, the meat looked perfect.. we took a bite at the same time and both said mmmm 😋! I was in shock and so was he! This far exceeded our expectations as the countless times I’ve had bad experiences! I went in and ordered 4 more to go for my freezer and a dozen farmers cookies! I complimented the well dressed older gentleman and was on my way! I believe this shop has changed my mind about pasty’s! It’s honestly about the ingredients! The customer service was top notch as well! They made me a believer that all pasty’s are not created equal!...

This darling little shop is a hidden gem that you need to make a point to visit if you are in the area. I grew up in West Virginia, and I had never had pasties before. They have a large (16 oz) and small (12 oz) beef or vegetarian offering for you. My husband and I got 1 of each, cut them in half and shared. That was a warm hand full of delishness made with a whole Lotta love!! The flavors were amazing. And the crust was paper thin. How does she do it? If the little table inside is empty, sit a spell and enjoy your pasties and perhaps you'll be treated to some great conversation with the owners. They were both delightful. I especially enjoyed it when the locals stopped in to get theirs. You could tell they all loved the owners and it was reciprocated. Don't forget a...

My wife and I were visiting the area to enjoy the fall colors last fall. Being from West Virginia, neither of us had ever had a pasty before, but as we were planning our trip weeks before, we knew that we had to find a spot to give them a shot. Amy J's Pasty caught our attention as we were looking, and the timing worked out in our outing that day, so we dropped in and had our fill! A wonderful experience all around! Big, filling portions! Wonderful flavors! Great little shop in an old gas station from a different time, and the owners graciousness in giving some of the history was a real treat!

My husband and I have been wanting to try a pasty since we made it into the U.P. two weeks ago, but have been holding out because of mixed reviews. We made it to this side of the peninsula and saw Amy J's and all the great reviews, so we decided to pop in! Great prices and absolutely delicious pasties! Wish they weren't sold out of the veggie one so we could try one of each, but maybe we can try and get one before we have to leave 😉 The woman, I'm assuming owner, that was working today was very friendly and provided excellent chit chat while we ordered. We recommend this place :)
