Olden Days Cafe — Restaurant in Handy Township

We went in today (Saturday, 12/31/11) around 11 a.m. The cafe was full, except for one table. This is a small town cafe that is apparently well-liked by locals. Tables are no-frills and there is a counter with stools in the back.

The four of us ordered breakfast; omelets, biscuits and gravy, and a pancake with link sausage. We are breakfast junkies and everything served was above average in quality and quantity. The pancake almost overlapped the dinner plate and was about 1" thick, very good. The omelets were unusually fluffy and well-prepared. One was a no-yolks omelet, very fluffy. I had the biscuits and gravy and a side on hash browns, it was very good and the biscuits were large and obviously made there, that morning. Our bill was $30.46, including drinks and tax and the two of us that ordered omelets took half of their order home.

There appeared to be only two waitresses and they somehow took care of business quite well. I wish I had remembered the waitress that served us, she really earned the 20%. The food wasn't served in a flash, but the place was packed and our coffee never went cold.

Free parking is available on the street and in a nearby public lot, about 100' from the cafe. I didn't see public restrooms, but I really didn't look for them. Considering the age of the building, everything was clean and in order.

I live in walled lake sometimes I travel to weberville I found this little restaurant on one of my trips. With covid so many places have closed. this place had a note on the window the first time I drove by saying that they had fish on Friday. I'm always interested in trying local restaurants and thought I would stop, and stopped see what they had going on. They offered a pickerel and Fry dinner for $8.99 on Friday. Well fish is not one of my favorite things but I know I'm supposed to be eating fish not necessarily that fried fish. I still had a half an hour until I reached my home and thought well maybe it won't be so good. Let me tell you, that this fish traveled really well it was so good I even ate it lukewarm. I couldn't even wait to put it in the microwave this was the bomb. Well that was about 6 months ago.Just last week I was going back out to webberville, and I thought oh let's see if this was just a fluke or if it was the real thing. Well I couldn't even wait to get home I started nibbling on the fish as I drove which is not probably the good thing to do when you're driving but I had to tell you that this was the real deal next time out to webberville I will be stopping once again at the olden days Cafe. They had another item on the menu the southern smother that looked interesting. I think next time I'm going...

The last time I ate there was about 20yrs ago and I had a hot roast beef sandwich.... its crazy cause I remember it like it was just yesterday..... anyways....it made me so sick and I mean sick,..... projectile vomiting and dieria like I've never had before for 2 days, and I haven't been there since cause it's the same people and the same food, so I'm pretty sure nothing has changed since....... I wouldn't give that food to my dogs .....they want me to rate them, unfortunately I can't cause they don't have negative stars ..... So eat at ur...
