My husband and I usually sit at the upstairs bar, but this time it was closed for a private party, so we found seats at the bar downstairs. We usually like to try several small pours of different beers, but the service was so slow, we ended up leaving early.
Shortly after we sat down, the bartender broke a glass right in front of me, (luckily nothing hit me), but she left for several minutes while the busboy cleaned up. Then she came back and left again, and the other bartender was busy serving other people, so we were waiting with empty glasses. She finally came back to serve us a second beer, then it took a while to put in a food order. It seems like she had a lot of drink orders to make for other tables, and gave those the priority.
My husband really enjoyed the Bang Bang Chicken sandwich. I had the MBC wrap, which was ok, but the bacon flavor dominated. I didn't care for the house dressing on my side salad. I think it contained cumin, which I wasn't exoecting.
My husband decided to try the English Brown Ale for his second beer, but it was way too dark and tasted just like a dry stout. We thought maybe the two beers got mixed up. The bartender seemed a bit defensive, and said that would never happen. My husband is a former brewer and writes beer reviews for his website, so he is somewhat of an expert on beer. It would be nice if the bartenders had more knowledge about different beer styles. If she had explained why the beer didn't look or taste like a traditional brown ale, we would have understood. We would have loved to try the dry stout to compare, but she was too busy, and seemed impatient.
Then in the bathroom, I happened to use the middle stall and it was out of toilet paper, one of my pet peeves. It was early on a Saturday, around 6pm, so completely unacceptable.
Finally, I wanted to buy cans of Oktoberfest to take home. I hunted around in the cooler for some time looking for it, then asked the bartender if she could help. She seemed a bit put out because she was too busy. My husband was about to go look for it himself, but then she told us they were out of it. Then we couldn't get her attention to bring our check, so another server took care of it. So overall, not one of my better...
Read moreUpdate- reducing to 1 star. I left this review on 5/11 and emailed Ross per his instructions below and never heard back. When asking for a confirmation of event receiving my requested response I was told I would have to wait till Friday for a “meaningful response”. Um… it’s 7pm Friday. Yikes empty promises and terrible customer service.
If I was reviewing the food- 5 stars, food, appetizers and meals (when correct) was excellent. Service? Horrendous- to the point that the started to feel like we had signs on our heads that read “don’t serve us / please, ignore us”. Mother’s Day, family of 4, and a long time fan of the MORE brand was super excited to sit down at the rootop, absolutely gorgeous day, top floor was only open. After being told by the bartender to sit wherever, we got seats and settled and then we waited, and waited, and waited….. and then had to wave the waiter down who had gone to the table behind us that sat down after us that hey- our existence hasn’t been acknowledged, the table you were just talking to sat down after us, could you send someone over? He took our order drinks & app immediately and the we waited, waited, waited, got our drinks /no apps/ sensing how this visit was going to go - placed our entrees .. and waited, waited, waited. Sensing a theme? App plates come out, 2 silverwares not 4, food finally comes out and our daughter’s food was wrong. At this point we’re wondering if we were on an episode of punked. In the end we got everything we ordered/ asked for but not without hand holding. When it came to the paying the bill, I’ll let you take a wild guess what happened… waited, waited, waited, finally had to gather the kids and leave and my husband had to literally go up to the bar to take care of our bill. But don’t worry, the dog at the table next to us got a complimentary bowl of water (great for the dog, more waiting for us). Kindly get your front of house in order MORE, rooftop season is here and you’re set to upset many...
Read moreWe live in Bartlett and never had a reason to go to this place until we had out of town guests. So we went, it was about 7:45 during the week, and it looked like it might rain might not. As we entered the up stairs we were greeted by a guy who had dirty glasses from a table he was trying to clean, says it looks like rain so are you guys here for food and drinks or just drinks. We said drinks and appetizers. He said well if you want food you need to sit around the corner on the west side because if it starts raining the waitress won’t serve here outside.. I thought that was very strange answer. So we decided to just go inside he came over and placed menus on are table. So as we were sitting inside I noticed the person who confronted us and told us where we can sit and another lady cleaning up tables and putting away all the pillows outside. As they were doing this a group of 6 people came in and started to grab some pillows and sit in one of the outside tables, the lady that was cleaning up ran over to them and was taking the pillows back, they all left the business. When she was done she came inside and before asking us what we wanted to order she grabbed the menus and said these menus are not the menus we are on the limited menus. She came across very short and almost like she was bothered we were there. Being our first time and not knowing all the dif. Beers we tried to ask her and she was very short again. The floors were sticky and not clean, also my wife said the woman’s bathroom was a mess and only one toilet was working. Needless to say we will not be returning. Never got our waitresses name but she had blue hair and a bunch of tattoo’s.we actually ended up dealing with the manager at the end of the stay. She was helpful. Oh and by the way it...
