I recently dined at this new Indian restaurant Sankalp and it turned out to be an excellent culinary experience, especially if you’re a fan of North Indian and Indo-Chinese food. We went as a group of 10 people with kids in the group as well .. The ambience was warm and inviting, with tasteful decor and new furniture . The service was great—friendly, attentive, and efficient, making the meal all the more enjoyable.
The North Indian dishes were a standout. The paneer 65 was perfectly spiced and grilled to perfection, while the vegetarian sizzler was a vibrant medley of flavors. The soups, particularly the chicken corn soup, veg corn soup, and manchow soup were rich, comforting and delicious. The Hakka noodles had the perfect balance of flavors and texture, making it a must-try. The restaurant offers an impressive array of Indo-Chinese dishes each prepared with authenticity and flair. The surprise star on the menu was the paneer pizza, which was not only unique but also filling and packed with flavor. This was a hit with the kids .
While their focus seems to shine on North Indian and Indo-Chinese fare, the South Indian dishes were ok not great . The idli was super soft and dosa, though varied in options like kaaram dosa, super paper dosa, spicy capsicum dosa, and masala dosa, lacked the bold flavors expected from South Indian cuisine. However, the variety of dosa choices was impressive, catering to different tastes. The chutney for the dosa was cold making it a ok experience - the South Indian offerings may not be the highlight here Our favorite dish of the day was the anda burji which was an amazing egg gravy with naan and I - the anda burji and paneer pizza made me make it better rated . If South Indian food is changed I will revisit and give it a 4/5 later .. Overall, this restaurant is a fantastic spot for anyone craving rich and satisfying North Indian and...
Read moreUpdate 05/03/2025 The food quality is still there, but cost looks like gone up even more and quantity is definitely less compared to competitors in that area. Also if you are using the credit card, beware of an extra 4% charges, which i don't like.
Update 04/01/2024 I was supposed to change the star level after my dine in. Indeed your facility is a 5 * one.
Update 03/29/2024 Finally, we were able to dine in. The atmosphere is great. It is very clean and nice. Good seats, but the table could be slightly bigger. Felt it was a little it cramped, but it is definitely better than other restaurants. Food quantity of take and dine in are the same. Dilpesh conceded and provided on all extra items we asked. Servers are cordial. Veg biryani was awesome. As usual, all our mocktail drinks were very tasty. The restrooms were clean, too. For the dessert, the sizzling brownie was superb.
Please note that I only had a takeout. So, I can not comment on the atmosphere. But it looked to be nice and neat, and everyone was courteous. Once I do a dine in, I will update. Now, coming to the food, quality is definitely very nice. It may become our favorite new restaurant. In three decades, the first time I saw some restaurants serve my favorite sugar cane juice with ginger and lemon in North NJ. Fried rice was tasting good. Baby corn fry was very good. Chole batura was awesome, but they do not give a whole puri, but it is made into small triangles, but I wish the quantity was more. The regular mango Lassi was also very good. Quantity was decent, but it could be more. Veg hakka noodles was awesome. They also provided complimentary...

We had a very frustrating experience at Sankalp. It started with a wait of 10–20 minutes just to get a table, which was expected on a busy evening. However, things went downhill from there. No one came to take our order for another 15 minutes after we were seated.
We were travelling and informed the staff that we couldn’t afford to wait long. Despite our request to expedite the order for takeout, it still took over 30 more minutes, and we ended up waiting a total of 1 hour and 10 minutes just to receive the food.
To make things worse, the restaurant automatically added an 18% gratuity charge even though we didn’t dine in or receive any service at the table. Only after we reviewed the receipt and brought it up, they agreed to refund it. If we hadn’t noticed, we would’ve been overcharged by nearly $20.
Now the food: • Rotis were unbelievably hard, it felt like a jaw workout just to chew them. • Garlic Naans were slightly better but still dry and tough. • Veg Manchurian was a complete disaster, soggy and had an odd, unpleasant taste. • Chicken Tandoori appetizer was bland and flavorless, tasted like boiled chicken with food coloring. • Chicken curries had zero spice or authentic flavor, just below average.
Overall, the entire experience was a waste of time and money. We left feeling disappointed and frustrated. Definitely not coming back, and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for quality Indian food or...
