Guilty Bakery — Restaurant in Hanover

This place is awful!!! I got married last August and went for cake tasting at the end of April. The cakes we tried were delicious and we went with the lemon raspberry flavor. During the appointment we discussed visions and inspirations for our cake and the girl said they could totally do it and she said they would get back to us with a quote in a couple of days. I kept checking in week after week to see when she would send that quote because we were running out of time. Finally, it took them an entire month to get back to me. I obviously didn't see the cake bafore the wedding day and when it was time to cut the cake, I saw it and was mortified. For reference, I attached our inspiration pictures and the picture of the cake they made is. Besides the fact that our cake looked NOTHING like the inspo which is fine because it's just an inspiration, it literally looked hideous. The "ruffles" looked like slices of deli meat and cheddar cheese! I was so embarrassed by this cake. I reached out to them for some refund. I paid almost $1300 for this cake and an extra sheet cake, the girl offered me $300 and really didn't care at all that we hated the cake and were so sad that this was the wedding cake we served and were so excited for. I just don't understand why she wasn't honest and said the details I asked for couldn't be done and offered alternatives or gave me suggestions. It honestly looked like they forgot to make the cake and did it last minute and were rushed. If you want a beautiful and professionally made cake, don't go there. We selected Guilty Bakery for cupcakes and a 2 tier cutting cake for our wedding in June 2019, mostly because our venue recommended them and did not charge a cake cutting fee if we used them. The wedding cake was the only disappointment in our entire wedding.

The cake tastes very good. We selected lemon raspberry cake, and cupcakes in red velvet, lemon raspberry, and cookies & cream. Had we known the lemon raspberry cupcakes were not the same consistency of the cake, we would not have selected them (the cupcakes are just lemon filling with berry frosting; the cake has lemon and berry filling that is delicious. We had a lot of lemon berry cupcakes leftover, as they were just a bite full of lemon).

The problem lies in the actual cake. We had asked for a "naked" cake. We discussed it at the bakery and showed a picture of the type of cake we wanted, and it was agreed that they could make us a naked cake. We were delivered a fully frosted cake.

The second problem, which I cannot for sure blame the bakery for, is that when we went to cut our cake, I found a thumb-sized hole in the back. I would assume that the cake was delivered and left in place. I decided it's not worth my while in knowing how the hole got there, because neither the bakery nor the venue will likely not admit to causing it and I can't go around asking guests if they put their finger in my cake.

My partner and I went in for a last second cake for my birthday, and we were amazed at the selection! There are cakes ready made, sandwich cookies, macarons (and macaroons!), and all sorts of other treats that are displayed perfectly. We ordered one of each macaron, oatmeal cream pies, two cake pops, and a small vanilla/vanilla cake for a party we're hosting. The service was amazing and fast, the prices were totally reasonable, and the baked goods were amazing.

If you're looking for a bakery to try out, you have to go to Guilty Bakery! We're so glad that we did stop in and see what kind of selection that they had.
