My boyfriend and I were traveling back to Nort Carolina from Southeast Georgia and were looking for some whole in the wall place to stop for lunch. After passing by the chaotic traffic that was Pooler Georgia we decided to see what options we had in South Carolina. We found this through Google and were not disappointed when we arrived. Not to mention they have one of the only social distancing policies we encountered since being out of western North Carolina. Only 2 customers in at a time and then you have to wait outside for your food. Take Out only. The woman working was patient with us, as everything on the menu sounded so good! It took me awhile to decide on something. We ended going with an order of wings, the chopped BBQ plate and ribs plate. Talk about aoul quenching good food. Hot damn. This was some of the best food we had ever had. The wings were perfectly fried and dropped to order. My BBQ tasted fresh off the pig and the make an amazing in house sauce. My sides were mac n cheese and green beans. That mac tasted like a used recipe from somebodys grandma, with a crisp golden crust. So damn good. My boyfriends ribs were perfect. Absolutely perfect. Falling off the bone, juicy and tender, even the fat tasted amazing. He also mac n cheese with dirty rice. Now this rice, with that seasoning and those peppers. Perfection! This was what we needed and we didn't even know it. Definitely worth the stop. We may even make the 5 hour drive back down, The food...

Despite its unassuming exterior, this spot is a must-stop for anyone passing by this exit. "16161 Whyte Hardee Blvd, Hardeeville, SC 29927"
The first thing you'll notice is ample free parking, and it's conveniently located across the street from all the gas stations and firework stores. But let's get to the main attraction: the food. Hardeeville Chicken Lickn's fried chicken is nothing short of phenomenal. Every crispy bite is packed with flavor and reminds me of homemade comfort food.
Now, let's talk desserts. The homemade desserts here are like a nostalgic trip to your grandma's kitchen. The pound cake, in particular, takes me back to my father's baking. It's a slice of heaven on a plate.
While the outside of the building may not catch your eye, the food inside will absolutely blow you away. I wholeheartedly recommend making a detour to this spot. Plus, it's a great place to take a break, refuel at the gas station, and use the restroom. And for those who prefer something other than fried food, there are plenty of options in the vicinity. Hardeeville Chicken Lickn is a true hidden treasure worth discovering on your journey through...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe tried this little dive because of the great reviews, AND because it's pretty much the only game in town. I am amazed at the consistently great reviews. Either we hit the place on an off day, or they had a new cook in training, or we're not the right color, or possibly a combo of all that. Reading the reviews, I can only surmise that the people eating here have exceptionally low standards. My chicken and hush puppies were cooked to death, very very very dark brown and so hard and crunchy I had quite a time trying to bite into either of them. The mashed potatoes were very dry. (How do you mess up instant mashed potatoes? Yes, these were definitely out of a box, not 'home made'). Also, we were told when placing our order that it would be about 13 minutes or so. No problem. Went outside to wait at the tables. 15 minutes goes by, 17 minutes, at 20 minutes I went in to check, in case we missed our number being called. Nope, not ready yet. I opted to stand inside and wait, figured it wouldn't be much longer. 11 minutes later my order was finally ready. (This might explain why everything was so overcooked?). Definitely NOT impressed with this place and our first visit here...
