I ordered crispy chicken meat and potatoe burritos and when I got home all 4 were beef. I drove back to the restaurant to get it fixed. Yes my fault I should have checked my order before leaving the drive through. I got back and I politely explained they gave me the wrong burritos. They said ok and went to fix my new ones. When I told them their mistake I repeated 3 times that they should be crispy chicken. They then handed me a new bag and I said they are all crispy chicken? And he says no they are grilled chicken. I was like nope they are supposed to be crispy chicken. So a manager come over and says a total to me and I said I already paid. She said it was an up charge for chicken. Keep in mind they already handed me a second bag with chicken and never asked for more money. So I said I wasn’t paying more money for their mistake. She said they had to make some money because they have now made 8 burritos wrong. I said that was on them. They were the ones that keep making the burritos wrong. She then said I could come on Monday and take it up with the GM. I said she needed to make my burritos right and she could take her mistake up with her GM. She shut the window and made a call. I thought she was calling her manager to handle the situation and she called the cops on me. The cops showed and told me I had to leave and talk to the GM on Monday. I said they now have my food and my receipt and I paid $50 for my food and I have nothing. He said they can refund my money. I said great that would be fine. No one had previously offered me a refund. He went in to get my refund and came back with my original receipt and no refund. He said the manager can’t do a refund and I would have to come back on Monday and speak to the GM. This is ridiculous service and shouldn’t be the way they do business. I have been in food service and I also eat out and I have never had such a problem at a restaurant before. It will be the last time I spend my...
Read moreClosed early due to grill malfunctions ??
Understandable but you have other items on the menu available for order
I had to basically beg to be served potato oles - because those aren’t made on the grill. But the cheese was already put up.
Why close up everything early when only the grill had issues.
Also, maybe turn off the open sign if you’re going to advertise yourself as non-operational when a customer pulls up
Idk if this was a manger or a grill person I was speaking to
But if this was a manger they did a very poor job tonight and clearly don’t care about customers or reoccurring business.
Below is the recipe to the potato ole seasoning- it’s a pretty good copy cat- I’ll end my review with the recipe and stating how I won’t waste my time ever coming back to this location which I frequented regularly
I will give my money to companies who wouldn’t have an issue heating some cheese up for me when you’re still open for about 25 more min
This recipe is pretty spot on and gives you a large enough amount to put in a bottle and save for later
TACO JOHNS POTATO OLE SEASONING

ENJOY!!!
Update: it’s been 2 months since I originally posted my review. I have not been back. It’s true that you do lose customers due to poor business. I think about going all the time on the way home from work, but it’s just not worth...
Read moreHad lunch here yesterday, the food was not good at all. You could tell that the taco meat was made many hours ago, and even though the condiments such as tomatoes, cheese, lettuce, were fresh, please bring them to room temperature before adding them to the tacos. Unfortunately with the meat not tasting that good I have a feeling that this Taco John's will go of the way of the Taco John's on South Alpine and go out of business here in the next 6 to 8 months unless they do something drastic and make especially the taco meat constantly fresh. You can tell that it's been sitting out for a very long time that they're constantly adding water to it to try to make it fresh but doing so makes it lose all its taste and whatever taste you can get from a makes it extremely salty. The other reviewers who actually came out here and said the food was absolutely fabulous must not eat Mexican food often. I love it how people say that they love the Potato Oles , it's funny, it's round tater tots with Lawry's seasoning salt on them. Honestly folks, making tacos at home would taste much much better than the quality you get here at this Taco John's location. The quality and pride just isn't here anymore. There is a reason why out of three thriving stores several years ago in Rockford, there's just...
