There were three different occasions that I have experienced bad food. First, the waiters at this place are amazing. My wife and I use to order from this place via grubhub. The food was always amazing. So we decided to actually visit the restaurant. We ordered our food and asked for extra cheese and sauce on the manicotti and on the baked zita. The baked zita had extra cheese and sauce. The manicotti did not. You can clearly see there was no extra cheese. The waiter went back to ask the cook if it was extra cheese. He said yes. Needless to say, the waiter refused to charge me for the extra cheese because there was non. My next experience was when I sent my wife to pickup a large pizza pie with extra cheese and sauce. They gave her what looked like a already made pie that was sitting out for awhile. When I called about the pie I had ordered, the guy who always answers the phone said, "Oh yeah, the pie is right here. They offered me to pick up the pie. Due to the distance I declined.
I decided to give this place one last chance. I reordered the same pizza pie as before. And again the pie was poorly made. I called again and the same guy answers the phone. I expressed my disappointment and reminded him of the mistake made last time. He remembered and asked if I wanted a different pie. Due to the distance of the restaurant. I declined. My issue is not the price of the food. I don't mind paying for quality food. I also did not want anything for free. It would be nice if the cooks could just get it right like they use to. Sadly I will not return to this restaurant, not because of the customer service, but because of the quality of food. This could be an easy fix if the cook just paid attention to details. The food there is good, unless you have a special order. I do encourage other customers to continue to support their local business. I just hope the quality of...
Read moreI was craving chicken marsala and wanted to try some place we have not tried yet. I was disappointed that the marsala was not a cream sauce as is commonly prepared. It was a butter based sauce. The cream adds a richness one cannot achieve with butter. The flavors fell well short of expectations. Ironically, the dish bumped my rating up a star because it was still good and they did a surprisingly efficient job of cooking the alcohol out.
The bread was one of two best parts of the meal. It had a great crustiness without sacrificing flavor.
The pasta was cooked well (al dente) and held sauce well.
The fried mozzarella cheese was uneventful, not much flavor.
My husband said the meatballs were okay but did not enjoy their sausage at all. That was discarded.
Caprese salad, while technically a simple dish, it was very bland. It was dry, I did not taste any olive oil or balsamic vinegar.
The panzerotti was okay, but I struggled to taste anything other than the potato. I could see tiny flakes of pink that I only know was ham by taking a piece and tasting it by itself. Tasted like a chunk of thick mashed potatoes without any salt or butter.
The other item that was considered the best, the stuffed mushrooms. This is the only item any of us would return for and I do not see that happening. Unfortunately, my husband is the only one in the family that eats seafood.
The blandness, portion size, and level of quality to me are below that of olive garden or other family restaurants in the class. It would not take much to elevate the food to a respectable level of quality. I believe the skill and techniques are there, but there is a disconnect. Fresh ingredients and passion could really turn this place from fast food/tv dinner quality to an outstanding family restaurant. Flavor...
Read moreI went to this restaurant SOLEY off of the reviews and I even told the waiter this same information. I am from Myrtle beach and have never eaten in this establishment! My dad and I went for lunch and they were not very friendly with greeting myself or my dad.( that is putting it nicely) (We waited about 7 minutes for someone to acknowledge us for seating purposes) They didn't explain the pizza costs or options (such as pay by slice or cost per topping etc.) It felt so uncomfortable I got up from my seat walked to the baker and asked him to please box our pizzas to go as they were coming out. My dad was shocked as well! Additionally, I observed a kitchen employee placing a metal tray full of raw food that appeared to be pizza dough on top of an open trash can (the items were waiting to be cooked/baked) That alone is so unsanitary! I don't think they are fans of minorities eating inside the establishment. I say this because I noticed the different treatment of every other guest that entered the restaurant. Now, the reason for the two star rating is simply because the pizza was good. On a scale of 1-10, 1 being worst and 10 being best, I would give it a true 7. Sauce was bland, and toppings at $2 each could be more plentiful. But on the up side, crunchy crust, adequate amount of cheese, and fresh tasting. Sadly, I would not recommend because service and food go hand in hand when spending ANY amount of money worked for. Food is an experience and with that being said....there are better places that offer a more respectful, comfortable and friendlier environment along with great pizza! if you do decide to eat here, get it to go, although I would say "Save your coins, and go...
