Mr. Assad and his wife are cool people and the kitchen looks organized and clean from what I can see through the little service window. Which is I gave it 1 star. I LOVE seafood especially in the summer because that's when it is the best. I gave the food 0 stars and I will tell you why: I ordered the butterfish sandwich. Pretty easy you would think. NOPE! It was nasty, had no taste other than poor seasoning, the bread was literally sandwich bread for toast and it was so lightly toasted that any sauce made it soggy to where it was not able to hold itself up, it was extremely dry, needed more everything. This is not even fit for a peasant and it's a "king" cooking it. I LITERALLY HAD TO DISECT THE FISH AND REARRANGE THE SANDWICH BECAUSE THERE WERE BONES AND FINS WERE ATTACHED TO THE FISH!!! It made the entire room smell nasty. I ate half of it because I wanted to give it a chance but I had to show myself mercy and stop before I got sick. There were no toppings at all. No lettuce, tomato, onion, nothing just boring fish with the bone and fins still attached. I should have went with the tartar sauce though to maybe help this sandwich in a way. I hope that one day the "king" takes these points that have been mentioned and will take them into consideration into making the sandwich something better than it's current sad state. Although I may come back in the summer and get mac and cheese because that does look good from the pictures. Good...
Read moreThis establishment is CLEAN. That is what initially caught my eye. I was hungry and being from Philly, I’ve never had the displeasure experience of stopping in a place that said “soul food” and it be terrible.... so I figure what the heck. Menu is EXTENSIVE for the establishment size. I’ve also am more conscientious of buying black... so win win. Staff was not extra friendly or talkative, but they were pleasant. I took no offense I know they were working. I was expecting good food.... and I admit, I wasn’t ready. First of all the smell of the food will make you want to run stop signs to get home and dig in (don’t run stop signs). I bought fried chicken, fish, shrimp and sides (that’s my business) THIS Food is absolutely GREAT, it’s SLAMMING, it SLAPS, it’s SCRUMDILLIUPTIOUS. I need catering, recipes, and franchise locations please. I felt like Claude Banks in the movie Life, “The bullets weren't the problem, ray. The pie was too hot! Burned my...
Read moreIt wasn’t worth my money. As a first time customer, they should definitely revamp their menu to better depict what they offer. If special request need to be made for onions and peppers to go on a cheesesteak (which I thought was already a standard for chicken/cheesesteaks) it should say that on the menu. After going back and requesting, they didn’t bother making a new sub but instead I waited another 10 minutes for them to half sauté onions and peppers and slap them on a now luke warm sub. Also orders banana pudding but the banana were way to dark in color for comfort. The owner had a rebuttal for both the sand which (saying cheesesteaks aren’t normally made with peppers) and the pudding (it was just made yesterday). No apology. That will be my first and last visit. I only went bc it...
