Our regular kebab restaurant having fallen short on recent visits, we decided to try someplace new. A&A Kebab showed up in a search and we decided to try it. We were not excited at the nondescript shopping center storefront, neither were we much impressed by the decor, but all that was forgotten when we began eating. The hummus was smooth and flavorful, but the naan was so warm, fresh, and tasty that it stole the show. My companion ordered a lamb and chicken combination. As lamb is one of her favorite foods, she tried that first and her facial expression sad a great deal about satisfaction before she told me how good it was, juicy and delicious. As rice has always been a staple for both of us, we were both surprised at the texture and flavor of A&A's. My companion was hard pressed to describe what made it especially good, but that might have been because it seemed to be disappearing from her plate so quickly. I was again surprised when she pronounced the chicken even better than the lamb she had pronounced delicious. We both had a lightly dressed salad with our meals. My own selection was the Kurdish-style kubba, a delicious football shaped dough filled with spiced beef and deep-fried. I am more accustomed to the rounded Iraqi version and my only criticism of this take was that the dough was a bit thicker than I like, but we were both very happy with our selections and agreed that this would be an addition to our rota of favorite restaurants. I will add, only because I am so often asked whether foreign cuisine is too spicy, meaning piquant, that the food was gently seasoned and not at all sharp. A minor criticism is that we were not asked what we would have to drink, but we helped ourselves to canned soft-drinks from a cooler, By the time we had wrapped up leftovers for a snack at home, getting our own drinks seemed right, because the father and son who served us were as comfortable as family and seemed only concerned that we enjoy our experience. We did, and we look forward to trying new dishes... with our new family. I am somewhat embarrassed to admit that I left my credit card in the reader, but I mention it because Halat, the owner's son, tracked me down online to tell me so. That is going...
Read moreThis is by far the best and most authentic Kurdish restaurant I have ever visited in Northern Virginia and other states. Five stars is not even enough! They deserve more! I have tried many of their dishes, they are all amazing compared to many other restaurants of the same type and food category. I have taken my family and friends to this place several times. Dishes are made fresh to order, taste is always consistent. It is owned by an amazing family. I work in the food industry myself, I recommend anyone visiting Harrisonburg, or driving through, to stop by this place and try them without worrying. You won't regret it or be disappointed! I visit this place at least once or twice a month now even though I am 2.5 hours away, I am a happy...
Read moreWhat a wonderful treasure this place was. We live in eastern VA and were visiting the Shenandoah Valley, and decided to just drive around Harrisonburg. We stopped at A&A and were blown away at how fantastic the food was and the amount of food for the price. I lived in Bahrain for over a year and have been to U.A.E. many times and can tell you the food is authentic. I had the chicken and lamb kabobs, while my wife had the steak. If we're ever in Harrisonburg or anywhere nearby, we will definitely be back! The staff (or owners, I'm not sure) were super friendly and gave us some tea after dinner. - Do yourself a favor and visit A&A Kabob grill. I doubt you will be...
