I've been here a few times before and enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The family and I went for dinner yesterday but had such a negative experience with the cost of the meal that unless someone else wants to eat here I will not be coming back intentionally. The issue that will keep me from going back was the drink menu. It had been a crappy day and a margarita sounded pretty good. Their drink menu was kind of "messy" in layout and not a single price was offered. I ordered the "Dama Margarita" on their specialty drinks menu, for what I can charitably say was a good 16oz of margarita in a tiki glass with a led light in it. Perhaps its' on me to know the tequila being used and it's price because the drink ended up being $17. Since we got two of them they cost more than the meal itself and didn't know until the check got there. Also all kids menu options are $9 and the mac n cheese that was served was a paltry amount of what looked and tasted like reheated blue box mac n cheese. The food was good, they had a Birra torta special that was pretty good, though it was on the smaller side for 14 bucks. Still, it was delicious and the fries that came with it were very crisp. My table also ordered the steak tacos and enjoyed the crispy steak, though they were a bit dry so the table salsa livened them up. Their cooks clearly know what they're doing and honestly hats off to them. Our server was kind and great when at the table, but it seemed like every time they left the table it would be a significant amount of time before they would check back in. We were wondering where they'd gone and had to flag them down a number of times. Ultimately, if we hadn't ordered drinks, I wouldn't have been nearly as disappointed but that really turned me off and I know I will never order drinks off a menu without prices on it.

On our way back to DC from a scenic drive in Shenandoah, Monday Aug. 14. We decided to just find a "Mexican" restaurant to hopefully have a decent meal. We found ourselves at Jalisco. First impression, small store front in a small fairly nice and safe looking "strip mall.". Upon entering I was a little overwhelmed with the gaudy grandiose of the Western wagon wheel and Jalisco branded decor. Authentic to the Jalisco region? (See pics). We were greeted unenthusiastically but after some interaction with our waitress from Guadalajara, she lightened up and so did we. It was not busy, about 4:30 pm. Drinks were ordered to include a blended margarita, which looked very good and with no complaints from the person consuming it 100%, I can only conclude it was good. My beer (por) tap, Amber Dos Equis was good as well. The food was hot/ warm to serve and my nachos grande was solid , ample beef burger but could have used more (pollo) chicken. Quantity was good and quality and taste were solid, I could taste the ingredients. The other travelers seemed pleased with their meals as well. The service was very good overall, fast and efficient enough as would be expected since there were few others eating at that time. The bathroom appeared clean with paper towels ( I hate air blow dryers). Curiously there was a mouth wash dispenser in there as well. Overall, this entertaining and somewhat visually overwhelming place, Jalisco rates in the range of (4.0-4.2). Gracias!

From the moment you walk in, this restaurant transports you straight to the heart of Mexico. The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, with traditional music and décor that perfectly complement the culinary experience. The food is nothing short of exceptional — every dish is packed with flavor and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The tacos al pastor were a standout: juicy, perfectly spiced, and served with homemade tortillas. I also tried the aguachile, and it was one of the best I’ve had outside of Mexico — rich, complex, and truly authentic. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, always happy to explain the menu or recommend a dish. The service was fast, and the portions are generous for the price. Whether you're already a fan of Mexican cuisine or trying it for the first time, this place is a must-visit. You can tell they put heart and tradition into every plate. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Let me start off by saying this has been my favorite Mexican restaurant for over 16 years! I recommend it to everyone and often bring out of town guests here to eat but tonight’s take out has left me questioning ever going back. The waitress taking my order by phone was having a private conversation the entire time I was trying to speak so no surprise that my order was wrong and things were missing. When getting take out we always order toppings on the side so they reheat well and your lettuce doesn’t wilt and things like that, non of that was done. I ordered a dessert that wasn’t there at all after checking over my order. Upon arrival I had to wait in my car for about 10 minutes for a family standing in the door waiting to be seated. I could see their frustration as well with restaurants staff ignoring them. I finally get there and wait another 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge me upon which time another gentleman had come in for his takeout order... this gentleman was served before I was even after telling them I had arrived first. The guy serving him didn’t know how to work the register and struggled for five minutes, meanwhile I’m watching a steady stream of people walk in and being ignored while waiting for seating. It was probably 10-12 people standing in the door (so much for social distancing) I also noticed the restaurant was very full and there was no social distancing at all in the dining room. After 30 minutes total waiting time I finally got service at which time I told him the dessert was missing. He comes back ten minutes later sets a bag on the table and walks away. At this point I’m done so I stop a waitress attempting to walk by and ignore me and tell her I’d like to pay for my to go order and instead of grabbing the ticket she says “what did you order” I had a rather large order for several people so I couldn’t recall everything. She then waited for me to grab the ticket off my food and read it to her. So after almost 45 minutes in this establishment trying to pick up a take out order I finally leave and get home to deliver ice cold Mexican food to a group of hungry people... yuck!!! The owner has always taken so much pride in his business and if he was there tonight to see how it was being run he would be extremely disappointed. Most of the wait staff are new faces and they don’t even pretend to care or like their jobs. I’m still giving two stars because when the food is actually hot it is without a doubt the best authentic Mexican food money can buy, however their customer service really really needs work. I hate to give up my go to spot but I may have to explore other Mexican restaurants...

It is with a sad heart that I must give my favorite Mexican restaurant a bad review. I've been patronizing this establishment for 13+ years. And let me say rather frequently. The food has always been delicious, and the service excellent. I just don't know what happened today. Now, I normally eat dinner here, but today I had plans to have my car fixed, so the wifey and I opted for our favorite restaurant. We arrived and ordered our usual margaritas. Hers was not even full, we're talking maybe 2/3, mine was ok, at best, but not very frozen like I had asked, but whatever, not everyone can make a drink, and why put your best bartender working the lunch shift? Moving along. I had ordered the Fajitas lunch, now being a fajitas fan I assumed that the lunch where it's stated in the menu is served on a "sizzling hot plate" would in fact, be sizzling on a cast iron plate that the dinner fajitas are served on. The waiter informed me of my oversight and I decided not to pursue the issue. However, when I actually went to start eating my food, it was ice cold. And I mean cold. Most of the onions and peppers were barely above room temperature. So, I had asked the waiter to send it back, I'm not eating cold food. Well over 5 minutes later, waiter arrives back with the exact same plate I sent back, only this time was the food not only hot, but the rice was extremely dried out and crunchy, the beans and the poor steak were also extremely dry. I refused to eat it at this point. The waiter did take the plate off my bill, however, there was no offer to remake the entire thing from scratch, or even give me a chance to choose another menu item. I have never gotten such horrible food, nor service from this restaurant. I hope to be back again one day, and I really hope that I can once again enjoy what was once the best Mexican...
