This place looks absolutely unassuming. Went here with 2 co-workers on business travel, passing along the interstate. Even when we walked in I thought I might be disappointed. The employees were very, very friendly. The menu is extremely diverse, and I travel all over the US eating in every state along the way. Lots of super interesting combinations of food, which was right away very appealing. I settled for the 6" Mexican sub (solid choice), one of my co-workers got the pork tacos and the other co-worker got a Mexican sandwich (torta?) that was as big as his head. We got chips and drinks right away and the server was very attentive. The spice you see in the pic will fry you, proceed with caution. But, man, is it good!!
We were very blown away by how great the food was! Sometimes when reviews are so good you think it's skewed somehow. Not with this place. My sandwich was PIPING HOT but I still devoured it. I opened up the second half while eating the first and it was still hot! The flavor.......unreal. Best thing I've eaten all week. My co-workers agreed with their plates. The torta guy couldn't finish his, it was way too much. Mind blown.
I have to complain about one thing. This place is a 3 hour drive away. This saddens me. I can only hope that I come back this way, and I'm saving this location as a favorite. 5/5 Stars.
EDIT: Passed through and hit this place again months later....
Read moreFood was average to sub par Mexican food, the lady whom waited on us I believe was the owner was pleasant and friendly, here lies the problem. There was a little flag type advertisement on the table of a grand looking mango margaritas. I inquired about it and decided I’d try one, mind you no price is noted or mentioned but a margarita is a margarita. I drank one and decided “hey bring me another one” , now the food was reasonably priced however she hit me for 25.99 per margarita. My jaw about dropped. Totally my fault because I didn’t ask for a price before ordering. We’re not talking about a tank for 2-4 people margarita, just an average and typical small size glass found in your typical Mexican restaurants. I would’ve granted her 10-12 dollars, maybe in a fancy restaurant 15.00 but this place is an old renovated “waffle house “ building and that margarita wasn’t worth 10.00 at best. Had I asked before I ordered it I truly believe she would’ve gave me a much more reasonable price. It’s a trap/trick that they use on passersby’s so beware and don’t order the mango margarita. No tips were left after she cut me like that you...
Read moreOk despite reviews being either 5 star great or 1 star terrible I'll tell you about our experience and I've been a professional server for one thousand years!! The atmosphere is cute, cozy comfortable. We ate there while traveling, and it was an easy walk from hotel. I had chix enchiladas, hubby had street tacos with barbacoa. We each had a basic margarita. Drink service came fast, were ok but definitely not worth the price, just very average. Food took half an hour to arrive and there was only one other 2 top in restaurant on this Tues night and they'd already been served. It took our food a half an hour to arrive. So we were wondering what was taking so long and asked our server who told us the cooks were in the other kitchen?!.... don't know what that was about and didn't ask. My enchiladas were covered in mole which I don't care for and was not mentioned on menu. So that was kind of a bummer. The food was hot and and the drinks were cold so some people will be satisfied with that. It was just okay...... also took awhile to get check presented so we could get the heck outta there. The choice...
