I normally don’t do this but I feel with how many horrible experiences I have had here, it needs to be done. So I walk in at about 5am with my work bag because I just wanted some coffee and breakfast as I was working remotely on this holiday. A tall woman walk up with a face as if she hated her job. Now this is a hospitality business. A 24 hour one at that! The miserable woman approaches me and tells me, we are closed for the next hour. No apologies no explanations. Not that I needed an explanation because I do understand things happen. But the fact that this woman couldn’t even apologized And made it seem as if my presence was annoying her is what really did it for me. I literally had a a family member pass away hours earlier, so I just needed something to eat, and a cup of coffee so I can catch up on work and distract my mind. I have had a long week I oversee two fulfillment centers for A security company and to be approached by someone in that demeanor it’s really sad. I’m gonna assume that was the manager I really hope it was not. I come from the food industry and used to be a Director of operations, and if I had someone running one of my establishments like her, I would probably terminate her. Again, I do understand things happen, but you have to do better! This is where these establishments fail. Director of operations need to be a bit more involved, but I understand the business They have so much things on their plate because these companies expect and expect pushing them to drive numbers so they lose oversight On the day-to-day operations. Then business starts to fail and they get blamed for it. Although numbers is what brings in the money, How can you do that if you have people like that working for you and push these directors of operations to the ground. Investing time in hiring the right people and training them correctly on how to deal with tough situations so when things do arise, they’re able to talk to a customer and the customer not feel like they are a burden. Now I’m sitting in my vehicle trying to figure out where I’m gonna go next because there isn’t a lot of 24 hour establishments open and the employees are just standing Behind the counter doing absolutely NOTHING while, people are going in and they’re sending everyone out! This will definitely be the last time I come to this Denny’s and it’s sad because I grew up coming to Denny’s and there’s not a lot of them left And eventually, there won’t be any because this kind of hospitality is what you find everywhere now. Good luck to you guys give you guys...
Read moreI went to Denny’s Restaurant #8810, 539 Flatbush Ave, Hartford, CT – 06106 with a friend yesterday i.e. 08/25/2018 ~ 2:20 AM. The experience was terribly bad as we came across a lot of service issues some of which are highlighted below:-
When we entered and asked the attendant for a table for two, she indicated that she needs to check for availability and asked us to wait for a few minutes. We kept on waiting for 20 minutes and could clearly see lot of available tables all this while so asked her again and she said it will take more time. This is when we had to tell her that there are available tables and then she immediately got us one of those tables and mentioned that they had to clean the tables that’s why there was a delay.
But I can’t buy this because it hardly takes a few seconds to clean the table NOT 20-25 minutes.
Server took the order and indicated that it will take a few minutes to bring in the food on to the table. After 10 minutes, she said your food will be right here and then kept on telling the same after every 10 minutes for around half an hour. That’s when I had to ask her that she told this many times but we were still waiting for the food – in reaction to that she said “I can’t tell you how long it will take to serve the food because I just happen to be your server and not the cook”. If that’s so then I wonder whom should I ask for it if not the server.
Third most unacceptable thing happened there was the fact that I found a sausage meat chunk in my Loaded Veggie Omelette. Let me tell you that I’m a vegetarian and eat only egg – strictly no meat. When I ordered the food, I indicated the same to the server that there should strictly be no meat in it. When I asked my server about it, she brought her manager over to address the concern. The manager said that was a mistake and offered me 2 options – (i) getting me another order with no additional charge & (ii) excluding the charge for that item from the check. I denied for both the options as I don’t feel that either of these options can compensate the trouble I had to face. Moreover, I lost the faith that if they bring it in for the second time – it will have no meat.
I never expected to receive this kind of worst service ever from Denny’s. If you can’t serve the right food to the customers on time then don’t take the orders. But it’s highly unacceptable that you are actually serving non-vegetarian food to a vegetarian guy – nothing can explain such a mistake. Totally unsatisfied with...
Read moreAwful service and Management. I stopped there for GrubHub, no one was at the front as a host and the restaurant beast empty, so no excuses for a rush time when mistake can easily happen. I went to the waitress and asked her about my order, give the name placed and the app that was from. She checked that my order wasn't ready at the window and did absolutely nothing else. I waited more than 10min until someone else came to grab another order. The other waitress, seeing me wait, asked if she didn't make a mistake with the orders and that was how I figured out that she didn't even placed my order. The tablet from the app was off, she didn't receive any order and even after I arrived, she didn't asked the kitchen if the have my order or nothing. All the time I was there, she didn't look at the app to see how long l, or check with the kitchen... Clearly a mistake that could be avoided if she did her work properly. Now, my question are: did she know how to work? Does she received any training? Is her fault or the management? They definitely need to pay attention to the service that they offer and if the employees are doing a good job. Once again, I want to thanks the kitchen to prepare my order fast, as soon the mistake was realized. I am sorry for the others employees for one star, but they need to pay attention at this problem and solve. Talk with the girl and figure out if she knows how to do her job, how to use the tablet for orders, how to place a order, how to bag for delivery, how to greetings a costumer, how to communicate with the back of the house and how to...
