Title: Love it!!! Definitely go here!!
I've only been to two other hot pot restaurants a few times and both of those were all you can eat. This one is not all you can eat but, after 1 visit, I absolutely love this place!!
We went on a snowy Sunday afternoon for an early dinner and were seated right away. The atmospheres is very cozy and warm and the booth we sat in was very comfortable. The first thing we noticed was how helpful they were trying to be! The waitress immediately came by and gave us nice ice water and some plates with reusable napkins. The menus we were given had the origin story of hot pot, how to order, and generally how long to cook things for (there was a more detailed sheet on the wall; removable). There was also nice pictures of all the items on the menu so that you knew what something looked like if you wanted to!
Like I said before, it's not all you can eat so the fact that everything had its own price was daunting but after my experience, I wouldn't have it any other way. If you want a broth, a meat, and a veggie or two, you can do that! It's a la carte. OR if you're like us and don't know what to do, you could also just order dinner combos which comes with two proteins and a veggie platter (so much food!) For like about $22-$24.
We ordered off our phones (they have QR codes at every table!) But the waitress came by in case we needed help. And after we went to the very helpful dipping station to make our own dip. There was more lore and many options as well as a little recipe if you didn't know what to do.
Our food came a few minutes after that (the appetizer a little later) and it was all soooo delicious. My boyfriend and I took his parents to get hot pot for the first time and they both LOVED it. The flavors, the labor, the atmosphere; all was quite the experience! I was nervous because one of the parents was picky about Asian food at times but thankfully they enjoyed it :)
The only two complaints I have was that the staff didn't come by as often as I would have wanted them to to refill our broths and our waters and that there were no tongs (not that we asked). But it was fine because they came by in the nick of time :P and the lack of tongs helped us pace ourselves more as well. We got a slotted spoon so that was definitely the MVP when it came to picking up our slippery noodles (btw, udon noodles, very yummy).
At the end, we paid at the cashier at the front and went on our merry little way WITH OUR LEFTOVERS!!! the benefit of a la carte instead of all you can eat ❤️
Though you could argue you wouldn't want leftovers from hot pot which is fine. Everyone I was with didn't want the leftovers but I don't like wasting food and we had like two platefuls of food left. So, I cooked the rest of the food that was left and put it in little containers they provided. It took the pressure off of not finishing up the food :)
All in all it was a pleasant, delicious experience. Plus, it was also very nice seeing how thoroughly clean they were.
TLDR; it is delicious and is very beginner friendly! Although I haven't tried asking for fork... Whether you're new to hot pot or are a hot pot pro, I would definitely recommend eating here!
I can't wait to go back! (I wish I took a picture for you all to see the...
Read moreI have been to China multiple times and have eaten authentic hot pot a lot. Trust me when I tell you that Han's hot pot is mediocre, at best. Unfortunately, they are the only hot pot in the area, so we go there when we are tired and don't want to make it at home. We have eaten there at least a dozen times and until now the staff has always been very friendly to us. Anyone from the service industry knows that when you tip via credit card, the server may not be getting the tip or only partial, running through the credit card makes it easy for the management to take it. So I make a point of tipping cash. Last week, my wife, kids and I drove down (about 45 minutes from the house to Han) to have some hot pot. We were seated immediately, and we were looking through the menu to decide what sides we wanted. I'm not sure if he is the manager now or just the lead server, came over to my wife and showed her a receipt. He then showed it to me and asked if I signed it, it was the receipt from our last time there, it was my signature. He was upset that we did not leave a tip from our last time there and asked what was wrong with their service. Getting a little defensive, I reminded him that I left cash, he didn't seem to accept that answer, so I reminded him that tips are voluntary, not mandatory. He said, "we live off tips, if you don't tip I will not serve you anymore" and walked away from the table. This guy literally kept my receipt from our previous visit, put it in a file and waited for us to come back, so he could refuse to serve us. He wouldn't acknowledge any cash we left. After sitting there, embarrassed that he did that in front of the whole restaurant, I walked over to chat with him at the checkout register. I initially wanted to just leave, but my family was hungry, and we had already sat down, so I told him that I would make sure to add the tip to the credit card this time. He still didn't serve us, but had the new guy serve us, and we got some dirty looks while we ate. I went over and paid the bill and left a tip on the credit card receipt, he was acting like a child giving me silent treatment and just grunts for answers. I will now try to remind everyone that I recommended going there to stay away. To treat customers like that is very unprofessional, they get away with it because they are the only Sichuan hot pot restaurant in the area. This whole time I never read any of their reviews, I am shocked to see so many similar...
Read moreThe only thing we like about this place was the waitress (she is apparently fairly new) who was very friendly & helpful. Apart from that the soup base was tasteless & service wa just mediocre. We saw a poster on the door at the entrance of the restaurant if we follow their social media page and “Like” the restaurant, we would receive 10% off in return. So we followed the instruction and presented the so Iao media page when we asked for the check. Unfortunately, a gentlemen with the black mask came back & told us that the “boss” said this promo was only valid till 12/31/2022. It is fair to him to show us the validity of the promote on social media so we pointed & told him that the poster on the entrance of the restaurant does not indicate any date on there. He at first didn’t want to believe us then he walked towards the entrance without mentioning anything to us. The next thing we heard is he rambling of why is this poster is still on the door and tearing off the poster.
We do not hear anything back on the gentleman anymore until we ask the same gentleman for the check “again” then he presented the check with no explanation & apologies. I don’t think we are being unreasonable but we would expect they could handle this better with at least a simple apology.
We are not looking to returning to this place but would like to leave a remark to what we have experienced so you can double check if the promo is still available...
