Hastings Riverwalk Cafe — Restaurant in Hastings

I don't know what happened. I have been going here for years for breakfast and have recently taken some time off going to make at home breakfast. I've always gotten the eggs Benedict it's my go to favorite. This last time though it was different, not a good different. Either they have switched to pre-made holendase sauce or switched cooks. It was awful. I questioned is as soon as it was sat down because it looked like it was squeezed out of a tube but thought I should at least try it. The holendase sause tasted like it looked, flavorless. Also the ham they used was not great for that kind of dish. My daughter got the biscuits and gravy she enjoyed it but the gravy was also lacking greatly in flavor it was either canned or not seasoned. I'm sure they make other good things but not the eggs Benedict or biscuits and gravy anymore. I hate to change my review to bad of this staple restaurant but I have to...

We visit Hastings to visit our family living in the area and have been there twice to eat, food was good both times and we planned to eat there again on our latest visit but as we were being seated at our table we were sent back out to wait because our son who was meeting us there hadn't arrived yet and their policy was rudely expressed to us at the table they were going to seat us at that we couldn't be seated until our whole party was there. I could understand if we had a party of 10 and half of them weren't there but it was a party of 4 and one of us wasn't there and he arrived less than 5 minutes from when we got there. One of our party was an elderly person who again wasn't allowed to sit at a table to wait for her grandson. So we won't be back on our next trip...

Was the best place to go in town. Until 2 weeks ago when my sister and I brought our 2 toddlers in to eat and was approached by an older woman who was waitressing at the time. She was literally shaking as she approached and claimed that the past 2 times we had ate there that we hadn’t tipped and mentioned we had outstanding services. She stated that her and the other woman spoke to their boss and that he agreed it wasn’t okay. We haven’t and will not be back. Not to mention she was quite loud in front of other customers. I have tipped every time. Never anything over 10 dollars but tips are optional in the state of Michigan and I thought it was quite wrong and unprofessional to approach customers...
