State Grounds Coffee House Llc — Restaurant in Hastings

We went here a few years ago and were underwhelmed. BUT, today we were looking for a quick lunch and thought we would give it another try. Upon entering, a gentleman behind the counter, said “will this be for here to go?“ To which we replied, “for here please”… His reply was, “I can only make it to go because we close in 20 minutes”. We were going to order sandwiches, I don’t know why it would be unreasonable for someone to come in and eat a quick sandwich 20 minutes before closing. I’m not mad, I didn’t get bad food, but it doesn’t seem very welcoming. Maybe we will give this place a try at some point in the future, again. Edit to add I got my coffee at Biggby super friendly there. With so many choices, I wont shop local if you're not friendly.

In twice. 1st time was closing so the lack of friendliness didn't really bother me. In fact I said we can go if you're leaving for the day. 2nd time just now walk in all nice up to counter say "hi" the guy/owner and a young lady talking about a bagel to eachother didn't even acknowledge me. Waited at least 30 seconds so they could discuss the bagel. Not a glance nothing. 2 workers behind counter right in front of me I say hi and get completely ignored. I left. 3rd time a charm? I wasn't impressed. I thought it would be nicer than it was but honestly, it was very dark and dead inside and the Barista wasn't welcoming or energetic at all. I wanted to use a mug and they weren't very clean and the one I picked didn't get rinsed out before he made my drink. The espresso in my latte was made fine but the milk wasn't steamed properly and I couldn't taste the flavorings I asked for...overall it's ok but not quality.
