Their website advertises the best Mexican food guaranteed. This was the worst Mexican food I have purchased, guarnteed. We did not end up eating it, and ordered pizza. Did I contact them to have a discussion? NO, because I ordered a product and recieved the product, we did spend over $50.00, which in the future we will happily spend at another establishment over this one. I will explain what the food was like. I look forward to the degratory response from the establishment as their responses are less then kind, which is to be expected - when we picked up our oder the staff was anything but helpful or pleasant. While paying for our order, the cook came out and slammed our food on the counter as if it was an inconvenience that we were picking up our food. This is a honest review of the food, I do not wish to be taken to the kitchen to be shown the "fresh" food that is being prepared, when I order take out it is because I am trying to stay out of the kitchen. I also already read that the establishment has been in business over 40 years, and this review is not intended for the returning customers, this is to advise new customers what type of food they will be receiving. This is an honest food review, and was not influenced by any other reviews. We ordered two appetizer quesdillas, they were simply shredded cheese and possibly butter in a flour tortilla folded in half and microwaved - if you have ever made something like this as a quick snack for a toddler you know how the cheese gets if cooked to long, it was that texture on the outsides but in the middle wasn't even melted. Two soft corn shell tacos, chicken, we did not ask for any substitutions but did not receive anything other then chicken on the tacos, the chicken was extremely greasy. The "salsa" tasted like cold tomato soup, their were no vegetables in it and it was very watery. The chips were stale. We paid for extra rice and didn't recieve it, looking back no problem since we didn't eat the food. We ordered steak fajitas, but recieved just a plank steak with no seasioning, layers of onions and a half of a bell pepper, no tortillas. The rice was bland and crunchy. The Mexican pizza was the only thing that was consumable so we had that as we waited for our pizza. With all of that being said, maybe they were having an off night, we won't be back to give it a second chance since this experience was overly disappointing. I wish I would have taken pictures of the food to show, but I was upset and tossed it in the granger before thinking about it or writing...
Read moreSmall place, obviously family owned which is apparent from their comfortable attitude toward both their customers, food, and each other. This is both a pro and a con. But we'll come back to that. When you walk in, you do get to pick where you sit, and service is timely. I was in, ate, and left within 30 minutes. This is a dry restaurant, and it is NOT traditional Mexican food, but it is a specific kind. I ordered the three meat fajitas. They served me very thin salsa, with thick heavily browned chips, the chips were fine, but the salsa lacked both heat, and flavor being not bad, just not good, some salt and seasonings would have a gone a LONG way here. I requested lemonade, which they were out of. They also do not carry limes, so I had Lemons with my fajitas. When I asked about limes, the waiter pointedly disclosed that because they do not serve alcohol they do not have limes. There is no connection between the two, as limes are a traditional Mexican accoutrement, to not have them is subverting the expectation of most diners. This is what I mean when I say they are too comfortable. They do not care about your opinion. The meal came out, and while the portion was not bad, the flavor again was lacking definition. It tasted as though it had been seasoned with MSG, or maybe a light amount of Adobo seasoning. But nothing else. Again, nothing bad, but nothing great. Any additional seasoning here would have been great, but it was just MSG or Adobo. It's hard to tell because most Adobo seasoning is primarily MSG anyways and the amount was so light that if not for the few char marks on the steak, you would have thought the meat was only boiled with nothing on it. Total came out to 20ish dollars. Not bad for roughly 5 fajitas and timely, too. This place is OK, but a few adjustments could make it amazing. Make more traditional Mexican add ons available like lime, salsa Verde, or Roja. Add more seasonings other than salt/salt alternatives. These changes are not unreasonable, nor are they hard. In fact, I even read several other reviews, and many people had the same complaints. All in all, if you are looking for decently priced, lightly seasoned, quick food, come here. Just don't expect to have the best food, the best service, or the best experience. 3/5 for perfectly average, if slightly...
Read moreOver priced, little portions frozen shrimp. Hi. I think what my wife was trying to say is that we read the reviews on your restaurant and saw a lot of positive feedback. Everybody was raving about the authentic food and one person who traveled the world commented that your guacamole dip was top 10 best ever. With that being said, it's only educational that we had high hopes when we visited your restaurant. I read reviews on restaurants all the time to explore new and exciting places to visit and eat. I just didn't agree with all the people that were eating your food and rating it 3 1/2 to 4 stars. Opinions are always different and sometimes it's not what people want to hear. First of all, the guacamole dip tasted no better than well known brands found at your local deli. It just didn't taste fresh and I know what fresh made guacamole tastes like. Yours is very salty with no cilantro or fresh lime juice. The other thing is the food portions were small compared to the price. The chimichanga was very small and the price was 12.00. The wet burrito was also very small for the price 12.99. The shrimp were not or did not taste like flash frozen then cooked, but more like precooked frozen then heated up shrimp.... Also, they were not large shrimp, more like 36/40 count shrimp. We spent over 50.00 dollars for 2 adults and 2 children and felt like we got ripped off and some were still hungry when they got home. These reviews are important to my family and many others who read them.. I don't know who all these people are that are eating your food, but anybody that wants to judge me, well we like the Adobe. Especially, the chips and their hot sauce is top 5 we ever tasted. We like the Cantina. Once again, great chips, great food but needs to be served hotter, free bean dip and good hot sauce. El Sombero, good burritos , but not as good as they use to be. Taco Boy, great burritos, tacos and tostadas. Beltline Bar, over priced smallish portions, food is ok, but not great. Beltline Bar famous wet burrito use to be great, but not so much the last 15 years. This is my family's opinion. However, those who have ate at these places know what I am...
