My wife and I decided to spend the evening in Hattiesburg (up from the coast) for Valentine's Day. She made all the arrangement but unfortunately the food place she picked was in a questionable area so I did a quick search for food in the area and this was one of the top choices with 23 reviews and an average of 4.5 so even though we have never eaten Thai before, we gave it a try.
What I can say is that the food was very good. We went with "safe" choices, things that looked somewhat familiar to us for our first time, and we were happy with the food. The only thing preventing this place from getting a 4 star review is the service - it was deplorable.
We waited 10 minutes to sit down despite the fact there were several table available. I am not opposed to waiting, especially since it was Valentine's day and we did not have reservations, but the fact that 3 workers walked past us at the door at least twice each and did not so much as acknowledge that we were standing there should have given us a clue as to what we were in for. Once we finally were acknowledged and seated, it took another 8 minutes before the waitress took our drink order and another 5 minutes before they actually arrived.
We ordered an appetizer and soup, both of which arrived at the same time as our dinner salads and while we did not particularly care for the appetizer we ordered, the soup was excellent as was the salad. By this point, I still have yet to get a straw for my drink despite asking two different servers for one so my wife got up and went to the bar to get one.
Halfway through our meal, we were both ready for refills. We asked our server for refills and she acknowledged us. After about 10 minutes of not receiving them, we asked another server that was passing by. After a few minutes she brought them.
By the time we were finishing up our meal, we were both in need of another refill, but decided it would be easier to simply stop by the convenience store on the way out. So, after getting our check, a process that took yet another 10 minutes after I asked for it, we paid and left.

Read moreI was driving back to Jackson from an out of town work assignment. It was late and ibam starving. Once in HBurg i checked google for something new and this place came up. So i went. First impression of the place is good, midscale but classy and you can tell by the crowd. Once inside, althought there a lot of tables to choose from, i had a hard time because the place is too cold and most tables left is like below an air-conditioning vent but the staff was very helpful and seated me on a good spot. I wasted no time and ordered rigjt away since i am still an hour drive from home. I ordered for their specials which is the lamb chops and house soup While waiting for my food, i looked around and find the place very nice and with lots of exotic touch. My food came in about 30 minutes which to me is slow enough considering that there were not that many patrons and most of them had gotten their food and finished eating. So my food is in front of me, and all i can say is the it looked and smell good. The presentation is double thumbs up. I would say that the lamb chops was very tender, a little bit on the sweet side and grilled not to my likeness because it lacked the scent of flammed meat and fat to it which i always expect from a grilled food and it was a bit dry too. It also came with fried rice and veggies which did not very well complement the lamb. Overall, it was good and not excellent dining experience. And was a bit on the pricey side at $29 for just my food, excluding tax and tip.. At five dollars less, i can have a big and juicy steak at Longhorn! I was stuffed but not satisfied because I felt like i paid too much for what i had. I don't think i would recommend it...
Read moreAt one point, this restaurant was a favorite of mine. I'm a resident of downtown Hattiesburg, so it's conveniently close to home. I also ADORE Thai food and love that they have varying spice-options. However, the last time I ate there, I was incredibly disappointed. My partner and I went their for our anniversary early last year. We ordered the seafood pad thai to split, along with several apps and two thai teas. We waited a very long time for our food, and when it finally came out, there was barely ANY seafood in our dish. There were literally 3 scallops, 2 shrimp, and no tofu (which was the part of the dish I was most excited for, personally). We considered complaining, but our food had taken so long that we were eager to leave. We were incredibly disappointed in our choice of restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. The seafood pad thai was an expensive splurge for us. We both work in restaurants and are generally very understanding of mishaps, but this felt like they have gotten incredibly cheap and miserly. The previous time, when we ordered to go food, we were similarly disappointed in the protein portions (though to nowhere near the same degree). Neither of us have wanted to...
