I had the pleasure of visiting Cupcakes, BOOM! in Hilo, owned by the talented Nikki Savella, during her grand opening celebration for her newly expanded bakery. This milestone is not just about growth—it marks a decade of faith, dedication, creativity, and a loyal following for her delicious confections.

I tried the banana cream cupcake, and it was nothing short of perfection. The moist cake paired beautifully with the rich, creamy topping, creating a dessert that’s both indulgent and comforting. To accompany it, I ordered a French vanilla latte with coconut milk. The subtle sweetness of the vanilla and the creamy, nutty flavor of the coconut milk made for a perfectly balanced drink that complemented the cupcake wonderfully.

The atmosphere was lively and inviting, with the celebration adding a festive touch to the already charming space. Nikki’s passion for her craft and gratitude toward her customers shines brightly, making the visit feel personal and memorable.

I was waiting in the parking lot for my Tetsumen Ramen order when this place caught my eye. I'm usually not much of one for sweets, but I was having a bit of a craving and it was right there, so I decided to check it out.

The woman who came to the front when I went in was very friendly, helpful, and courteous. Given the huge selection of macarons, I asked her for two recommendations, and took an ube cupcake as well.

Her recommendations were spot on! The macarons were both so delicious, having just the right texture and bite, and the flavors were unconventional but so good and really brought a fantastic twist in taste to the macarons.

I usually end up disappointed with cupcakes because while they look beautiful, so many don't tend to have much flavor. Not so at CUPCAKES, BOOM! The cupcake was quite possibly the best cupcake I have ever had in my life: not only was it beautiful, but it was incredibly tasty, and it actually had an unexpected generous amount of ube filling, which was a delightful surprise.

Took advantage of the $1MacaronsDay! Quick and easy to use the online ordering feature and picked up in store. Variety of flavors available, line moved quickly for pick up. When arrived to the window, greeted by a friendly worker who along with the other associates were able to locate my order and promptly deliver. There were SO MANY orders and they all looked calm and collected speaking to their ability to work well together! I decided I wanted to get a Skinny Girl Espresso in house and was greeted by the friendliest associate, Henna. We chatted about my outfit and she felt so comfortable to speak with and have an uplifting moment. The girl who made my espresso offered me two choices of flavors and made it well! I enjoyed the atmosphere of the BOOM! Everything was well placed and clean, attention to details were definitely worth bringing me back.
