Gramma's Kitchen — Restaurant in Hawaii

When we first arrived, there was a waitlist for seating (this is a very small place with limited sit-down seating). Some in our group needed to use the restroom, so we went out the back door to the restroom outside the rear through a walkway. While waiting, I was approached by a busy woman taking a break from cooking and washing dishes. She introduced herself as "Gramma"! I thought having the owner and cook stop to say hello and introduce herself was very nice. She was very pleasant and wished us a nice visit. Our table was ready as soon as returning from the restroom. We were seated in a tight spot but then offered a larger table once that opened up within 2 minutes. Gramma's Kitchen is a hidden gem of a restaurant located in Historic Honoka'a Town, far north of Kailua-Kona, beyond the town of Waimea. This cozy little restaurant sits on the corner as you enter town, offering delicious homestyle cooking. Grandma herself even makes appearances to say hello once in a while. Finding parking can be a bit tricky, as it usually involves street parking or going further down the main strip and parking on the side of the road. Ridiculously good food! I'd hiked down the big hill opposite to the beach past the old macadamia factory and back and so perhaps my appetite overtook my reasoning but looking around me at how popular the place was I'm sure it wasn't just my hunger screaming with joy.

Varied menu, optional sides and a soft drink are all included within the prices. Large portions and...did I mention it...RIDICULOUSLY GOOD FOOD!

Friendly staff who really light up the room with their brief entertaining of tables (Particularly with children) but perhaps a little rushy as my wife was still eating when we were presented with the bill.

That said, I wish I had spent more than the day in Honokaa as the menu is packed full of ideas and each of our dishes were beyond words wholesome good home dishes.
